It's not the government's place to ban it, as they have already made abortion legal. (The stem cells the government opposes are from aborted fetuses) That being said, they can allow it, just not fund it, which I think is the case now.
I'm not in favor of killing babies, but if the fetuses are going to be discarded anyway, why not do something useful? Oops, that's not an answer, it's a question.

another example of poor communication. Not ALL stem cell research is wrong - the stem cell research being debated is what is called Embryonic Stem Cells, essentially harvested from aborted babies. Thus in a sense creating an industry for abortion. The debate stems from babies that die that don't need to die. Not all stem cells are from aborted babies, and not all stem cell research is wrong. There are stem cells also that can be harvested from umbilycal cords which is ok. The question has to do with babies dying and having this industry from the stem cells from aborted babies. I don't think there has been clear communication about this, just like the communication about iraq has been terrible. Like President Bush tells us how urgent or important it all is but we never know why. If people knew why maybe they would understand and buy in. It's really all about communication and understanding what it's all about. In this case it is the government's place to step in and stop it, as a lot of this research is government funded. You don't need stem cells from aborted babies to do stem cell research and there are plenty of other sources. It's all about money once again.

I thought the constitution gave us the right to LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. How can you pursue that happiness if you are dead.
Adult Stem Cell Research is far more promising than embryonic stem cell research and no one gets killed.
And all this talk of how embryonic stem cell research is better than adult, why is there no private money going into that research? Why should I have to pay for something that has not even had that much success?

stem cell research in itself is not wrong, but people think embryonic stem cell research is, because the stem cells are taken from human fetuses that are killed just for the purpose of getting specific cells.
but stem cells are also available in umbelical cord blood, and even adult cells, and these two options cause no death, and have the same potential as embryonic cells.
even though i don't agree with it, it's not the govt's job to step in and ban it. it's a moral issue, not a governmental one.

Adult stem cell research is fine. It's embryonic stem cell research that we are concerned about because to get a stem cell from an embryo causes that embryo to die, thus an abortion takes place. There have been many strides made in adult embryonic stem cell research, however, embryonic stem cell research has not yet done anything. So why spend money on what hasn't yet worked rather than on what has proven to be productive?
God bless,

Nothing is wrong with stem cell research as long as it it for the benefit of the mankind and humanity. Like it happens with misuse of any good invention or discovery, only misuse is to be watched, curtailed and banned either by the government or public or organizations.

1. Adult Stem Cell research & Umbilical Stem Cell research is good.
2. Embrionic (Dead Fetus's) Stem Cell research is unethical & does not produce results as effective as the Adult & Umbilical Stem Cell's.
3. Since the governments spending tax payers $$$ on this, we have the right to demand the government spends the $$$ as the majority of the population (Ah, "We the People") deems ethical.
BTW, JPII (we luv u) had Parkinsen's. It is belived that a French Nurse with Parkinsens's mirraciously was cured. No modern doctor can explain her recovery; including stem cell research doctors.

Oh, joy, there are more than I thought who understand this ... tears of Joy --- This is wonderful!!!!

Christians support umbilical and adult stem cell research. They oppose embryonic stem cell research, where fetuses are created only to be killed to perform research.
There is no scientific proof that embryonic cells are any better or worse than adult or other stem cells, and thus, many Christians believe that the only validation for using embryos is because it provides a loose argument for abortion.
