If you remove the file from the Limwire library then you have just deleted the file from your computer. What are you doing looking through your files with Limewire's library display rather than just opening up and explorer window for the directory that your downloaded files are? If the file says it's an mp3 then it's an mp3 you don't need to convert it or do anything to it however if your media player won't play it then you may need to download a codec for it. Just open up an explorer window, go to where you keep your downloaded files from Limewire, and do whatever you want with them. Don't use Limewire media player to listen to your music. Use winamp, itunes, or even windows media player for listening to your music. Use VLC for watching your movies though.

What probably happened when you removed it from the library is deleted the file totally. If I remember right (I haven't used limewire in a while) you have to keep it in the library in order for the file to stay on your computer.
As to you downloading them to an MP3 player (I'm guessing that's what you are doing), it is probably the wrong format. I know that you can open the file in Windows Media Player and convert it to MP3 format. That is one of the most common formats that will play on an MP3 player. It may play other formats but unless I know what kind of MP3 player you have I can't tell you what other formats you can use.

i download the song, burn them on cd and then the ones i like I burn them back to the pc....if you do remove the song from limewire, it will not be usable anymore.

You need a converter to convert the limewire files to .mp3
even though limewire says its an mp3 file, you have to download the converter....go to search menu and type in mp3 converter download and find a trusted site to where you can download mp3 file converter
