I've been having terrible headaches for over a week now. They start a few hours after I wake up and last till I'm asleep. I've tried taking advil, advil migrane, and extra strength tylenol, but nothing works for the pain. It hurts mostly from my temples to the back of my head mainly on the right side and especially when I lean my head to one side or lay down to sleep. I am starting to think it has something to do with my sinuses because when I was laying down today the right side of my nose was making a squeaky sound and my head starting hurting more, but I do not have a runny nose or anything. I'm really confused as to what the cause of the headache is. Does anyone have any ideas?

I know, I should see a doctor, and I will probably go to urgent care or something tomorrow, but I was just curious to see if anyone had any ideas about what is causing my headaches.

Sounds like a sinus infection. They can give you a pretty bad headache, and the fact that it changes when you tilt your head makes this seem likely. But, like you said, let a doctor take a look.
If it is a sinus infection they'll put you on a fiarly heavy regimen of antibitoitcs, because sinus infections are hard to get rid of. (since its not really "inside" your body where the drugs can get right to it, the infection will linger).
And it is possible to have a sinus infection without much junk coming out. It could be going mostly down your throat.
Good luck.

Hi Marina,
Did the headaches only start a week ago or have you had them before?
Importantly with headaches or migraines, we need to ensure there is no underlying physical condition that is causing them, such as a spinal problem, soft tissue injury, muscle spasms, blocked sinus etc. These are best determined by a qualified medical practitioner of course.
Unfortunately the medical community freely admits it knows little about curing chronic tension headaches, sinus headaches and migraines.
Medication sadly only "covers up" the real problem and can, over time, make it much worse.
Many factors such as diet, exercise regimen, posture, even attitude, can make a significant impact on your headaches.
If any physical condition is ruled out, combine a regular exercise regimen with a high nutrition diet and lots of mind and body relaxation techniques such as meditation and visualisation.
I hope this can help you in some small way.
Warmly,
Slav

Do you stare at the computer for long periods of time? This can cause really severe headaches, I can only get on the computer for about 2 hours max. or I start with the headaches. Mine are migraines and the only thing that works for me is get in my bed, pull the covers up over my head, put a pillow on top of that, make it perfectly dark in the rim and have some very smoothing music playing, like Nora Jones. Then, you will drift off to sleep and you should wake up feeling rested and clear-headed. Good luck to you!

It sounds like something related to your sinuses, but it could be a BIG list of other things, like a pinched nerve.
ALWAYS get this treated professionally. Anything else could be masking a serious problem. That said, you could try taking some Ibuprofen or Advil (the recommended dosage will do for this) in conjunction with a Benadryl for a vasoconstrictor. This works well on some migraines, and might work well for what it SOUNDS like you are having.
Just a thought.

Hi Marina, headache can be caused for many reasons, a common one specially in warm weather is lack of fluids, make sure that you are drinking enough water. Try to drink two glasses in the next two hours and if this is the reason ,your headache should be better in a few hours. Are you feeling sick as well?
But the best thing todo is going to the doctor.
Hope you feel better soon :-)
