in todays society women constantly complain about not being treated as equals with one huge exception! JUSTICE! today convicted serial killer lynn turner a woman in georgia was sentenced to life in prison instead of being given the death penalty she deserves. she committed two cold calculated murders of two men by glycol poisnoning. had she been a man that killed two women in the same premeditated manner the death penalty would have been issued without a 2nd thought! the jurys reason for their dexcison was because she is a mother?? what in the hell does that have to do with it ?many man on death row are fathers, but they got no such mercy!! susan smith was another cold bi*** that should have gotten death. many women skate through the justice system just because of their gender. i think it is wrong !the punishment should be the same for everyone regardless. what do you all think?? i think a murderer got off easy today some blind justice we have!!!!!!!

Exactly! Us women have been screaming for years for equal rights but with equal rights comes taking equal responsibility for our actions. This case infuriates me. When this was on TV I told my husband "watch this b*tch will get life". If it had been a man who murdered his wife and girlfriend for insurance money there's absolutely no question in my mind that he would have received the death penalty. If judges and juries are going to continue to discriminate on the basis of gender, race and economic status in death penalty cases then we need to get rid of capital punishment. I'm tired of these females who screw 13-year-old boys getting a slap on the wrist whereas if a man does the same thing he goes to prison. Lafave got off with nothing but if she were a man or an unattractive black woman she'd be in jail. Maybe I'll bleach my hair blond, get a boob job and go rob a bank. Then when I get caught I'll sit in court and cry and get off with two weeks community service or a week on the ankle bracelet. Sorry for venting but it just outrages me.

The death penalty is arbitrarily applied in the United States. Examples: the one you pointed out, the fact that the killer of a white person is twice as likely to face the death penalty than the killer of a non white victim. And, of course, the death penalty applies not to the "worst of the worst" but to those with the worst lawyers. When is the last time a wealthy person was executed or even sentenced to death???

Besides this, 48 states now have life without parole on the books. It means what it says and at a fraction of the cost of the death penalty.

get a life! you point to 2 cases, but use the word many! Your a funny guy. when you can point out many cases, then maybe you'll get a real answer. You dont post any details of the cases, and the state of mind determined in the killings! And Susan Smith had some real issues too. The fact is stupid, the percentage of women killing their spouse, lover or children is much much lower than of men committing the same crime. So in reality cases such as these get the headlines because its a woman. Hell O.J. is out playing golf and scamming people for money; how come that doesn't bother you!

Death penalties are state issues. Georgia has had a death penalty since 1973, but did not execute its first offender until 1983. Since then Georgia has executed 39 men. Currently, there are 107 men and one woman on the State's death row.

In Georgia, death penalties are decided by the Jury, not the judge. I think some people, in general, are reluctant to kill other people. Those are the kind of people defense attorneys try to get on juries.

NO ONE deserves the death penalty pal! The death penalty is for cowards - people who confuse revenge with Justice.

If you want true JUSTICE, demand that your tax dollar go to PROVEN crime prevention programs. The death penalty SUCKS money out of those programs becaue it is 2-6 times MORE expensive than life without parole. It also takes the lives of those wrongly convicted, but something tells me you don't want to know any FACTs which might get in they way of a rabid desire for revenge.

Your entire rant is filled with hate- and the desire for revenge. We all hate crime, but throwing another dead body on the pile tomorrow via the death penalty does NOTHING to stop the budding criminal in third grade. Nothing.

If you are so h*** bent on seeking revenge, at least have the decency to sign up as an executioner(i.e., murderer) for the state you live in...

I personally oppose to the death penalty let it be men or women, only God can say who goes and who stays regardless if they took someone else's life. I think each case (just as I have been hearing about my dwi case) are different in their own ways and the outcomes are almost always not the same. There are women out there who had killed their husbands out of self defense but they get sentence longer than if a man was to kill his wife. Either way (men or women), the system is at most cases not fair.

It needs to be cleaned up and redone with honest law abiding AMERICAN citizens ,not corrupt polititions, lawyers , judges and police

i don't think anyone should get the death penalty and if i was on the jury that tried a man then i would feel the same way.

your right she should have been sentenced to death but what can we do. its the same way between races and class. a black man can do the same thing as a white man and get a larger punishment while the white man gets a slap on the wrist. a rich man will just get community service while the poor man gets time. it sucks but right now its life. it will be that way until someone figures out a way to change it. and when they do give me a call cause i want to be one of the first on the wagon.
