So I would really like to know why most women who call themselves christians simply chose to ignore this bible verse?

Ephesians 5:22-33
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church

How could you possibly say that the bible is the true word of god, and inspired by god, if you simply chose to ignore certain parts that dont quite suit you?

Why stay supressed when the rules fit those times and that area of the world? So wait a second... the entire bible was written for those times and that part of the world. So then I guess I'm right.. the bible is a joke... written by man for a purpose... therefore none of it applies... because if you say that the bible is the word of god.... then he must have known about the future, and written it to be timeless, and not based on an era... which would mean that the verse applies now, and is timeless.

Women simply want to pick and chose what applies to you, just like most christians do... all the things you all say is nothing more than an excuse.. either the ENTIRE bible is the word of god, or none of it.

LMAO... I love it how women are making such excuses... Yes... if, therefore, possibly.. If the husbands were this then we would be that, and although I agree that many of the men in this world have flat out lost their minds, thats still not a good enough excuse... when you go before your god, Do you think you can tell him well I didnt obey you because he wasnt this or that... dont you think he will turn to you and say didnt I tell you that you would be persecuted? Didnt I tell you that you would see hard times? Why did you simply ignore my command... why did you not let your light shine through as a shining example? I will judge the men for their wrong doings, but that still does not excuse you of yours.

Excuses excuses excuses.

No...They just like to twist verses to suit them. It's also referred to 'taking it out of context'. I'll bet you a million bucks someone will say IF you do that, you'll have a happy household . Of course, this assumption only works if you agree with the guy 100% of the time and the wife isn't abused (or doesn't think she is).

This makes me so ashamed when I hear a man speak like this.Mostly because I used to be that man.It was one of the few verses that I knew along with your not supposed to judge. That was about it.But then I read.

" Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it;That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself for no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nurisheth and cheriseth it, even as the Lord the church." Ephesians 5:25-30
You seem to be just as selfish as I was at one time.I do have to wonder why you didn't mention this though since you did use the scripture and verse. As the head of a Christian home you have been given a stewardship over your home and not a dictatorship over it.If our wife's are failing to do as God would want them to do, it would be up to the head of the home to love them and pray for them and not to condemn them as you have.God will one day ask you to give an account of the wife and children that He has given you.I pray that you can at that time receive a reward and not a curse.

No I haven't been whipped, but I have been called and for some reason since I excepted that call my wife is SUBMISIVE.

How do you presume to know what is in the hearts of those Christian women? Maybe they are following the Ephesians quote. It's the internet, so how you can judge people's RL conduct over the internet is a mystery to me.

Furthermore, 'submit to your husbands as to the Lord' does not equal 'treat your husband like you would treat God.' It is calling for a social custom that existed back then and has very recently begun to be replaced with a better equality. To deny Christianity and Christian women the opportunity to achieve that same equality based merely on a passage intended to represent ancient society is pretty unfair.

ETA: Pet peeve - it's not 'helpmeet' or 'helpmate.' It's 'help meet.' 'I will make a help meet for him' = 'I will make a help (that is) fit for him.'

People,
If you want to truly live by the literary word of the bible you need to invent a freaking time machine and go back a couple of thousand years. Otherwise good luck trying not only to apply Paul's misogynistic commandments in your private life, you need also to get slaves and stone prostitutes and homosexuals. And you need even greater luck or a bigger time machine if you try to apply the despicable practices commanded in the Old Testament.

No we don't ignore it. And it is one thing to be submissive and another to allow yourself to be walked all over which isn't right either.

And the husband is supposed to love the wife as Christ loved the church....enough to give his life for her if need be.

The Apostle Paul said this in a time when husbands married wives for to have children and women married to have someone to provide for them so being told to love each other was a whole new thing for them.

I don't ignore parts of the Bible but I do study it to find out how it relates to me and how I need to serve the Lord.

You place the focus of your questioning on the wrong sex.

Christ is the head of the church. The church submits to Christ not initially out of strict obedience to the Word, but because He loved us first. Husbands need to be like Christ. Then wives will easily, willingly, happily do their part.

When men become what God had intended for us, our wives won't be able to resist us.

Read the verses directly below this where the husband is supposed to love his wife as himself (verse 28) . If a husband does this, then a woman CAN submit to him in love. Expecting a woman to submit to you without doing this, and you are a fool. If you do not love your wife, and she doesn't know that you do, all bets are off on this verse.

I am a women and I do believe that women should submit to and obey their husbands. It also says that a women should not teach a man or usurp authority from him. And I do believe this and practice it to the best of my abilities.

But men tend to only look at this part of the Bible and they often don't hold up their end of the deal....

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

A husband is supposed to put his wifes needs and happiness before his own. He is supposed to love her like Jesus loved the church and Jesus DIED for the church.

Do you know that the Bible says that for the first year of marriage a man is not supposed to work or go out to war and his supposed to spend all of his time just making her happy?

Deu 24:5 ¶ When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: [but] he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

That's from Pauls letter. Jesus' teachings were very different, as when Mary Magadele was listining to him rather than helping in the kitchen. The bible was a politically motivated collection of writing that occured 300 years after the death of Christ. Many contemperary books were left out, as they did not fit the political intention of the book. The question that I as a Christian wrestle with is what is the difference between the teaching of Christ - the radical rabbi, and what are the teachings of the Church - the political institution. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Christ gave up his power, to show us the depth of forgiveness.

I AGREE 100% WITH YOU.THEY DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT THE TRUE.God created the man first, later thinking in the man,He created the woman.Like we have a president and a governor(people in power) the marriage have a head and an authority who is the man.Look we refer to God like a man,he has a son who is also a man Jesuschrist, the 12 apostles were all men,all the leaders chosen by God were men like David,Moses and Solomon. It doesn't matter if women wants to accept the reality THE TRUE IS THE TRUE.
