I think things are changing drastically. even my elder kids comment on how awful it is for their younger sister, who in turns thinks things are deteriorating for those younger than her. Blame does not lie only with the parents! Once children are of school age, you have to put them in school and therefore lose a lot of control and guidance - they are bombarded with all sorts of rubbish and negativity. The schools are not allowed to discipline. The police also cannot discipline rowdy kids in the streets. Worst of all - these kids know that and read their rights. My children have turned out fine, but there have been times when I have been in tears in fear of my youngest drifting off with the wrong crowd and feeling helpless at disciplining her or controlling her. The only thing you can do is throw them out the home once they are 17/18 as they are legally adults (UK). This would be so detrimental as then you have no guiding role. So you have to watch, listen, cry and just hope some of your ability to be a role model and a good way of life, pulls them back to sanity!!!

Some children today are really well behaved, and some are just out of control.I dont think all of the blame should be placed on the parents.
I work at a local elementary school as a custodian.I think some of the blame should be placed on the teachers.
The teachers,,,,,, in my opinion are afraid of the kids, and let them get-away with way too much, and are afraid of trying to be their friend. They can be both,,,,teacher/friend.
When the parents bring their kids to school for an after-school-function most of them dont keep an eye on their kid's,,and let them run all over the place.

some are acceptable but lots are not. It's going worse in my opinion from generation to generation. There is a real lack of respect for their elders and gone are the days of manners in most kids.
I do my best to get my son to use his manners, please and thankyou are not hard words to use and i make him help hold doors while his elders go through first, that doesn't happen anymore these days.
My son is told alot that he has beautiful manners and i am proud of him. He,s 5 tomorrow and hes been using them since he could talk. If you don,t teach them from the start then how can they learn, definately down to the parents in my eyes.

A lot of kids today are just uncontrollable but i dont believe its always the parents fault!! Infact i think the situation is getting worse.
How long before something is done about all these teenage gangs with guns etc.....

I'm just glad i brought my son up with respect and love for others.

One day someone has got to do something, before its too late.

no. most parents hand their kids every thing. and let the kids rule the household. these kids are just going to make the world worse over the next 25 years. unless some parents start disciplining their kids the us and the whole world will fall to ruin. we need to shut down tv stations, and give parental control back to parents. we need to enforce learning on our kids. and we need to teach our kids how to act in public. schools today are full of drugs, sex, drinking, fights every day, guns, knives, and many other things. we need to overhaul the system and crack down on crime. no the kids of today are not acceptable. but things will not get better until people fight for what is right.
