alright...i really want to study film at NYU this summer and im waiting desperately to hear back from them whether or not i am accepted. if i am...i will be sooo happy...but I need to know a good estimate on how much a taxi would be from Languardia Airport to NYU which is at Washington Square Park. Anyone? would it be cheaper to fly to JFK and get a taxi there? i will love you forever if you know and could tell me.

That is going to be very expensive $50-$60 depending on traffic. This going to sound difficult, but it will actually be easy: Fly to JFK and take the jfk air train from JFK to Jamaica station, then take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) into the city (Penn Station). You can then take the subway or a cab to NYU and it won't be too much. Plus - no traffic problems with trains. Everything is clearly marked. If you take all trains JFK air-LIRR-subway it will be about $15.

JFK may be cheaper, but only by a few bucks. Newark is the closest airport, however you got the fees from the holland tunnel, there are no fees from brooklyn into manhattan. you can find cheaper rates if you are brave and carry a taser...then you can get a jitney from queens into manhattan. also, dont hesitate to ask someone at the airport to split a cab with you. it doesn't matter if they are going to washington park or the upper east side. once you get into manhattan for half price it is only a few bucks on the subway to get to nyu. if you are polite, find the right person, and pull the poor, desperate student routine it will work.

Flat rate from the airports to manhattan are 45 dollars plus tolls and tip.

If a taxi charges you more, then you've got a complaint to the TLC
