We do. Every Christian does. We just don't believe in praying to her or asking her to go to God on our behalf. She was a human being. God gave us permission to pray directly to him.
The Protestant religions started in Europe because the Roman Catholics insisted on having latin only bibles. Masses were in Latin too. Protestants found it odd to go to church and not understand anything so they translated the bible over into the languages they spoke every day. The purpose is to understand the mass and the bible readings so that you learn something. They also believed that priests and nuns have a right to marry.

Protestants do believe in the Virgin Mary actually!

They honor her as God's mother, but do not believe she was always a virgin as the Church does.

However, there are these points to consider:
1. There was NO word for "cousin, aunt, uncle, etc" in Hebrew, so everyone called themselves brother or "adelphos" which means a real brother.
(This is shown in the Old Testament when Lot is called Abraham's brother instead of his nephew.)

2. Let's say that Mary wasn't a virgin after Jesus' birth since the bible supposedly makes references to Jesus' brothers and sisters. If you count how many "children" Mary had, you'd probably end up with 80 or 90 children!

3. John 19:26 tells us that Jesus instructed one of his apostles to take care of Mary. Now if Jesus had brothers and sisters, why didn't he ask one of THEM to take care of their mother? Talk about a slap in the face!

Those are just a few reasons why Catholics believe Mary was always a virgin. Hope I helped and God bless!

I am a former Catholic. I have always believed and respected mary however I don't believe we are supposed to pray to the dead. I see no evience in Scripture that she remained a virgin. Since Jesus had brothers. Nor do I have any idea why some would insist God would require her to remain a virgin for the rest of her life. I also don't like when people refer to her as the mother of God. True she was Jesus mother as we believe that Jesus is God, but God created her. On top of that she was a sinner like everyone else and needed to be saved from her sin. This isn't meant to dishomour her in any way but rather to put thing in proper perspective. Some people came to Jesus once and said blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that gave you suck and Jesus answered yeah but even more blessed is anyone who hears and does my word.

It's not that they don't believe in the virgin Mary, they simply do not believe that she holds the same place of exaltation as our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Mary was a vessel used of God to bring forth His son. A vessel just like any one of us. To be used by God is indeed a great honor but does not exalt one to the elevation of God. Mary holds a place of honor as the mother of Christ but in a certain religion, she is sometime exalted above the LORD and prayed to as one would pray to God. Mary cannot and will never be able to pray for us sinners. Not her place or position in the Lord. And the fact that she is dead, she can't possibly pray for anyone. We must pray while we are alive and well. May God give thee understanding and wisdom.
Pr 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Quite the contrary, protestants believe in the Holy Mother.
They also believe that Mary was a virgin mother.
However, they keep in mind that Mary wasn't a virgin her whole life, as Jesus had brothers. (Yes, Jesus had brothers)
But protestants do NOT worship to her, as they believe that Catholics do, but Catholics dont.
They ask her to intercede for them. Its really quite simple.

i do believe that the mother of Jesus was named Mary. i believe that she was a virgin when she conceived by the words the angel spoke concerning her giving birth to the Messiah.

as far as scripture speaks of her is as far as the real Mary goes.

She was honored. And what a great honer that was! But the bible says we only have one between God and man that can pray for us and that is Jesus. Not your priest not Mary and not even the Saints. When you except Christ nto your heart as Lord and Savior you have a direct line of communication with God. Why try to go through the middle man.

How did Jesus answer a person who praised Mary during his lifetime???

Why do you think it is any different now?

... OK, here's the citation if you couldn't find it:

Luke 11:27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out. She shouted, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”
28 He replied, “Instead, blessed are those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

we do believe in the virgin Mary, and the Bible says that we should call be blessed, which i believe that she is,

but Jesus said, if we ask the Father anything in His name, He will do it.
so we pray to God in the name of Jesus.

I do believe she was a virgin before she had Jesus but after that she went on to have other children, so why call her virgin forever? I respect her as the mother of Jesus but she was not HOLY like Jesus.
