read the whole question please!

this thing i have specially noticed in the R&S section here
people tend to make up question like 'why do we live'
or 'what is the aim of our life'......this is a very simple question to me,i clearly dont get why should this be so complex for some people....

while some of them are always analysing religion!
religion is not science after all....
religion is something which gives ur state of mind peace when u are feeling most let-down n unhappy:it has a god because we need to feel that someone in this world cares for us n loves us when we are so lonely
the myths on which they have been built just add to the beauty of religion, then why do u all people go digging about scientific facts like i see some stupid questions 'why was mary a virgin?'

why question myths?
religion has been built to solve problems,to render our minds in such a state as we may always take the right path, not to complicate our troubles!

While some people here rob the complete beauty of religion by rendering it scientific, the others leave it n stop believing in it so when they feel lonely:they have no one to go to ….
Of course going to ‘ouselves’ is a great idea….but that we always have done, religion is just something like a catalyst to our thinking

truly,ppl,....are u all MAD PEOPLE OR WHAT???
ITS ALL A MYTH!
OK,...LET ME ASK U HOW WAS MARY A VIRGIN....?
JESUS WAS REBORN?LMAO!
i QUITE openly scorn u all for stupidity.....

2007-03-27 18:46:14 · update #3

WHY i used the term 'synopsis'
:thats because we go wrong only when there are abbreviated versions not explaning things fully
and such a thing too long will go complex and give way to many wrongs

SO U ALL UNDERSTOOD?

Amber: do u feel nice when someone tells u that they are on ur side,oh yes,...u feel encouraged....especially when people are sometimes left all alone in misery....
its not imagination,...its an emotion which makes us go forward.....

I agree that it is quite stupid to try to prove or disprove religion(s). What a religion is, depends on the person her/himself. We believe not because it is the truth since we have no way of knowing if it really is or not. We believe because we want to, or rather because we have faith, and that is the basis of all religions. If it was proven, it wouldn't be a religion at all, it would be science, since without faith, there is no religion.

I do believe in god, but just becasue I want to, not becasue somebody told me to (or not to). Actually, the whole idea that I should believe something because of some "miracles" I've never seen (doesn't matter even if I had witnessed them - miracles only mean that there is something going on that you don't understand), or some words written some hundreds, thousands of years ago, or - better yet - just because many other people seem to believe the same thing; just disgusts me.

Something else that disgusts me is people who claim to have witnessed miracles or to have talked with god and using these things as an excuse to "hit" people, or force their beliefs; as much as people who think believers are "stupid", without any basis.

No matter how much I enjoy discussing philosophy and religion, because of these kind of people who cannot accept other people's beliefs, and try to force them into believing something or making them stop believing; I do not want to get into this kind of discussions unless somebody else starts them first. Discussions about these subjects should broaden people's views, not narrow them down.

i'm unsure a thank you to respond to this question. i can't think of each physique interior the country having the comparable opinion. some people could have a miles better know-how than others approximately our historic past and the quantity to which some have fought to maintain a existence-style that many individuals treasure. I do get depressed via the excellent way teenagers in specific, and others to boot, do no longer fee democracy and can't be troubled to vote. Democracy as a device has many faults however the possibilities look much less eye-catching. If people are apathetic then small numbers of activists with very suitable or left wing inclinations can vote with enthusiasm and do properly in elections. whilst this occurs our representatives in national or close by government can finally end up no longer being representative of the inhabitants as an entire. napping, may be voters, can quite shrink to rubble the democratic device.

Ignoring the underlying assumption that religion's foundation is mythical (it is not to me), it is disappointing that a reasoned dialog between the believer and non-believer appears impossible.

If we assume that science (something most non-believers appeal to) is concerned with the empirical universe and religion covers the questions of moral meaning and its value, there would be much to learn from both. This does not mean science could not examine and study what religion does, only that it cannot do what religion does.

Hmmm. I always thought a synopsis was an abbreviated version of a longer treatise.

I think it's sad if someone needs that kind of reassurance. Perhaps if someone would feel so empty without religion, they should find some new interests and realize their own self worth.
And religion is a good catalyst for 'imagination', not necessarily 'thought'.

Christian beliefs are not myths. If Jesus was not resurrected, Christians are victims of the greatest hoax ever. It is essential to Christianity that Jesus was physically resurrected.
