It can take months to convert a bird to a proper diet and birds WILL starve themselves to death. If you ate say fast food everyday and then someone said you have to eat nothing but healthy food now you would be reluctant to change! It does help to eat "together." Birds are flock animals and "follow the leader" as far as food goes. Also (and you will feel rediculous) act like it is the best thing you have ever had...be loud, make smacking noises etc. and then offer it to your bird. Another way is to mix baby food like sweet potatoes to his regular food. Also talk to your exotic vet about it and they should be able to give you some other suggestions.

Cut everything very small and persistance. Also let them see you eat what it is that you are trying to feed them.

Take the sunflower seeds out of your bird's diet. They are horrible for birds. Seeds are not a great diet either, but you probably already know that since you are trying to change your bird's diet.

If you go to http://www.roudybush.com you can see a conversion pdf file for pellets.
