If he's married, most likely everything goes to his wife. All depends on what his will says, and what state you and he are in. If there is no spouse, most likely you and your siblings would be the next in line to inherit his estate. You may have to file a claim, if he didn't write a will. Contact an attorney and find out your legal rights. Good luck!

Dear Boredinwisconsin:
Whether or not you'll have rights to benefits from your father's estate will depend upon the will he left, laws of the State of Wisconsin, and any and the possible decisions of attorneys, probate court judge, and possibly a arbitor to help decide the issue.
It may also depend if anyone is contesting the will; (putting a claim) on his benefits as well.
If you haven't already, talking to a attorney, particulary one skilled in death and probate will matters will help.

Consult an attorney in your state. Keep in mind that sales do not equal profits. In an estate you also inherit the debt, be careful what you ask for.
IF I may be so bold as to interject my opinion. I am of the belief that an inheritance should be given out of love. One is not entitled to anything someone else built. The Bible says that a good man leaves his children and inheritance. It is my opinion that you shouldn't worry yourself over what your father has and what your entitled to, however it is your responsibility and choice to seek out and earn your fortune so that you may leave your children and inheritance out of love...
good luck

With that much money, I can promise you that he has a will and it's airtight. So, if he doesn't leave you anything in that will, then you won't get anything. Of course, in the event that happens you can take it to court and spend A LOT of money, and lose. A parent is not REQUIRED to leave their wealth to their children.

He is the one who chooses where his money goes when he dies if he has a will. If he doesn't have a will, you may have some claim... I'd bet he has his bases covered and you wouldn't get the company. If you did, you wouldn't know how to run it!! Get on with your own life and develop your own company.

Yes, you can contest the will if you are left out if he should happen to die. Sure a parent can leave you out but, if it's contested you'll get your share....

depends what's in the will. usually people with that type on income have it all squared away. if he has no will, then the state will look for the next of kin, maybe you- maybe not.

You would have to take his estate to court and prove paternity.
