How do I check to see if my Windows XP SP2 is an authentic version? I'm having trouble validating.?

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/ww/windows/default.mspx Go there. If it is authentic, that will tell you. If you are getting told by trying to update or upgrade compononents that it is not authentic, well, you're hating life, but it can be worked around.
