I would book everything separately. Travel agents receive commissions, and plus they charge you. Online discount websites...do not always offer the lowest rates. And when you get there they do not provide you such a great service because of that.

My best advice visit airlines websites, hotel websites, www.tripadvisor.com is great to read reviews about hotels, and book your trip yourself.

I have done it plenty of times. I used to work in hotels in PR and when we had an expedia or travelocity or hotwire reservation we would give them the worst room in the hotel, because they pay to the hotel only about $80 per night and they are charging you about $200.

Good luck!

This is what I do.

I check the prices for flights online using these sites:
orbitz.com
expedia.com
travelocity.com
See which airline gives the best price and best flights and then see if by calling the airline it is any cheaper (sometimes it is sometimes it is not). Then book which ever one is the best deal.

For hotels. Do the same thing, check online at Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity and also the hotels own website. Get the best price and then call the hotel direct (local number not the 1-800 booking number, this way you are actually talking to the hotel staff, hopefully). See if they can give you a better price. You shoudl even ask them if they can do a lower price - sometimes they will, sometimes they will not.
Then book which ever way gives the best deal.

For ideas of what to do check out frommers.com, roughguide.com and visit-the-coqui.com

Hope this helps

Check the big online sites (expedia, travelocity, orbitz and the like) but ALWAYS call the hotels and ask for their best deal. They sometimes have seasonal packages they don't publish, especially during the summer months (low season).
