The problem with getting answers is sometimes people answer as if they knew what they were talking about! Right?
Cake flour is low gluten flour. If you make a cake with regular flour it's liable to be very tough and heavy because gluten is the stuff that makes bread hang together.
To summarize, you can't make good bread out of cake flour and you can't make good cake out of regular flour!

No because cake mix has sugar, some have dried eggs, and powdered milk in them. Cake flour is just a soft wheat berry flour which has less gluten than regular flour to make a more "velvety" texture when you use it, especially in cakes. Gluten is the stretchy substance in flour that makes good bubbles in bread. The more gluten, the bigger the bubbles. Cake does not want big bubbles so you use cake flour.

No, because there are other things in the cake mix. If you don't have cake flour and can't get to the store use reg. flour, but stiff it at least 3 times. It's not perfect, but very close.

No, you need to use cake flour. The cake mix already has other ingredients that you don't need in the recipe.

Sorry NO, cake flour is usually sold as Self Raising Flour, if this is not available you use plain flour with some Baking Powder added, this will help the cake rise.
happy baking

No. Cake mix is different then cake flour. The mix will have other ingredients, like flavors, and leavening agents.

Same as the above, except that all the chefs on the cooking network say that when it comes to cake making, the instant stuff at the grocery store is as good as any recipe you could make, so I would just nix the recipe altogether and buy some instant stuff. It's the icing that counts.

Cake four doesn't mean cake mix. It means a well sifted, fine type of flour.
