Well, considering there was no Nazi party fighting in WW1, I doubt they were in both. The German contingent of WW1 was German Troops under Kaiser Wilhelm.
After WW1, with thousands upon thousands dead, the Treaty of Versailles was signed and put Germany under crippling debt and the blame for the war was placed on them.
In the period of the depression, Adolf Hitler was able to rally the disenfranchised German people in order to secure the rise of the Nazi party, which as most people know, carried out heinous acts of genocide and other assorted war crimes during and before WWII.

WW1 was caused by the secret alliances in Europe as well as militarism, imperialism, as well as nationalism. World War II was a continuation of WW1 because Hitler wanted to get back for the treaty of Versailles and invaded Poland for "Living Space". Japan was also a part of World War II for secret alliances as well.

Power-hungry people at the helm, and people who followed them because of their limited horizons and petty selfishness -- like starving, impoverished Germans who wanted steady jobs, and got them when they did what Hitler said to do.

Like our IRS workers, who perpetrate and support unspeakable acts of terrorism on the population, just so they can have jobs. Only our IRS workers aren't starving, so they really have no excuse except their own power-lust, laziness, selfishness, stupidity, or greediness. If the regular volk had not supported Hitler (or Stalin, or Mussolini, or the myriad potentates in WWI), the wars would not have happened.

If the "regular people" who work for the IRS stopped supporting this government-sponsored terrorism, the whole wretched system would collapse, Congress would have to cut spending, vipers wouldn't be attracted to government (because there would be so much less power there), and we'd have a country to be proud of.

But because the IRS rank and file (like the Mafia accountant or lawyer) think their jobs are "clean," we continue on the road to national corruption and death. "I was only doing my job" wasn't convincing at Nuremburg, and it's not convincing now.

Word War one was a result of the assationation of Arch Duke Ferdinand by Fernando Principe. The Arch Duke was a royal in Austria-Hungary and the assasin wanted independance for his homeland that Austria-Hungary occupied at the time. The asasin was said to be funded by another country, Austria-Hungary demanded nearly imposible compensation from that nation nd when the other nation couldn't produce they went to war. Complex treaties at the time sent nation after nation at war with one another in defense of either nation or a nation that was allied with one of the two. The US became involved directly after a German sub sunk the Lustintania which was carrying many Americans.

World War Two started when NAZI Germany invaded Poland, who had a mutual defense treaty with the UK and France. Some time later Germany invaded Russia. The US helped provide weapons to the UK and Russia as by this time France was under German control, but did not directly enter the war. Japan was allied to Germany and when Japan attacked peal Harbor the US declared war on japan, but not NAZI Germany. Hitler decided to declair war on the US I believe in Febuary of 1942. The NAZI party was not around for WW One however and japan was actually a US ally during WW One. The first aircraft to fire at another was during WW One and was actually a Japaneese pilot serving in France firing at a German scout aircraft with a service pistol.

A Serbian terrorist (member of the black hand) assassinated the Austrian Archduke to start world war one. World war two had several reasons the one that sticks out the most is the German invasion of Poland. Also the German economy needed world war two after world war one.
