Now, I know that I am going to be critically judged when asking this question but the truth is I am not as bad as it might seem in getting a 2nd DWI. I do not drink on a daily basis nor do I drink and drive regularly but partying with friends, arguements, sadness, disagreements led to my getting a 2nd one, I made a vow from the first time that I would not let it happen again but I failed. I am grateful that I didn't end up hurting anyone out there or let alone myself, that I really do thank the Lord for. My question is, would it help in staying on the alcohol monitoring sensor (ankle bracelet), checking myself into a Chemical Dependency program, AA meetings, MADD panels and lastly graduating from college in May to prevent me from going to jail? My trial date is in July and the incident happened in January. In late July it would be nearly 8 months since this shameful doing. Any guidance to what I can do before trial would help.

To SGT G: For sure for now on I will not even touch a steering wheel even if I just took a sip of wine cooler. I know it's not hard to stop breaking the law, I however am imperfect and made poor judgements previously and that I can not change. However what I can change is correct my wrongs and prevent it from ever happening again instead of punishing myself in distress. Thanks for the response though.

To those of you who might think that I want to do all that I can just to get out of jail time. To think of jail time I am of course extremely scared, but NO I really do want to change. I might be in denial and that is why I'm seeking help but either or... I want to be in control of my life. I am a Social Work student and after getting this 2nd one I wanted to just give it all up but after opening up and talking to my advisor she was very helpful and understanding about my situation and pointed out that b/c I've been there and experience these crime that I can relate with clients and their emotions. I am also encouraging my friends who do drink and accasionaly drive to enter AA with me. I hope this will help all of us. Thanks to you all for the response.

I was arrested for DWI once so I am certainly in no situation to judge you so I hope you can read this somewhat critical response without becoming defensive.

I think you should ask yourself these 2 questions.
1) Why would I ever drink again now that alcohol has caused me so much trouble?
2) Can I abstain without help?

I don't know what your answers will be or even if you will think about this but I wish you all the best.

Good luck.

So, what have you done with yourself since January. Still drinking? Are you currently in any intervention/treatment program? Staying in school and getting decent grades?

A second DUI will guarantee you a stiff fine. Jail time is a possibility unless you can show the judge you are really trying. No drinking, in treatment, staying in college, and getting good grades, are positive steps that the judge can appreciate. Assuming you get a reasonable judge who isn't burned out over repeat offenders, you should expect a heavy fine and a one or two year probation period.

im glad that you realize your mistake and are willing to change, first thing to do is get with your local driver control office and find out what they require you to take as part of your dwi, then i would contact a local AA program and see if they would help you in putting on a class at the local high school. the local police may also assist with this, and try to do the program before your court date. this will show the judge that you are making an effort and a diffrence in your life He will take that into account at sentencing time

Drink all you want. That's your right. Just don't drive.

You might have two addictions here: alcohol and driving. Give up one or the other. Or both.

You want guidance before trial? Why, to get off?

Did you do it or not? Are you guilty or not? If you're guilty, why do you want to avoid responsibility? That's just wrong!

for my section, sure. Being an alcoholic ability which you're uncontrolled. you are able to not administration your ingesting sprees, so which you are able to not administration what is going on on your existence. What once you're a violent alcoholic? What if it interferes with your artwork? (And have faith me, it continually will, it particularly is purely a count of time.) What in case you invite a ingesting buddy over which will molest, rape, or beat your baby? What in case you commence having unprotected intercourse at the same time as decrease than the impact of alcohol & seize a ailment or get pregnant? What in case you get decrease than the impact of alcohol & somebody rapes you? those are issues which could & WILL take place once you have an alcoholic make certain. My stepfather grow to be an alcoholic & he grow to be very abusive each and every time he have been given decrease than the impact of alcohol. He no longer purely mentally abused my mom & I, yet he raped my mom a minimum of as quickly as at the same time as he grow to be decrease than the impact of alcohol. She nonetheless bears the scars from that & has been no longer able to have a effective relationship for the reason that then. Being an alcoholic will continually make you a foul make certain. possibly you will commence off ok, besides the undeniable fact that it will continually circulate downhill by using fact the guy starts to lose extra & extra administration.

Two DWI's make you every bit as bad as it seems, if not worse.
You're not in control of yourself when drinking. Subconsciously, that drink is more important to you than life.
STOP IMMEDIATELY!!!
Your life and the lives of others you have never met are at risk!
STOP DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IMMEDIATELY!!
You must assume that no program or device can help you. This must be done on your own - now.

dont drink and drive is the best answer

try planning ahead as to when youre going to drink
if the drinking came unexpectedly, take a cab, get a ride with a friend (who has not been drinking), or shack up in a hotel or something

yes they cost more money than simply driving home but it is a very simple question: what is more valuable to you, your money or your life?

I'm don't mean to sound critical but I do have to say that I believe you are in denial. all of those things you mentioned doing "could" help you but not if you are doing it for the wrong reason. ie, to get a break in court.

Don't worry, the judge will give all the guidance you could possibly want.
It might not be the guidance you want to hear,
