The Bible doesn't mention the word masturbation, however, indirectly calls it "idolatry": sexual idolatry will damage our relationship with God and defile his temple (our bodies).

"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Mat.5:27-28).

"sexual sin is sinning against our own bodies"-st. paul

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. (1Cor.6:18-20). He even compared it to try

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

With love in Christ.

You are right- it is a sin and wrong. If he completed the rite of reconciliation- gave you a penance- than you are fine- it's Confessed "Go and sin no more." It's a tough habit to break. God Bless you!

If he didn't complete it, you can next time tell the priest- you can say you abused yourself or were impure with yourself- he'll understand.

It is wrong because it abuses the gift of sexuality God gave us. We are to give our sexuality only to our spouse. the marital act is supposed to be a complete giving of self to your spouse, completely for their pleasure. You spouse does the same. Then EVERYBODY is happy? Get it?

By its very nature, masturbation takes turns the gift into a selfish pursuit. Instead of the spouse, it is all about 'me."

It also wreaks havoc in a marriage because masturbation is addictive AND the pleasure is more intense than in the marital act. So a person who masturbates is more likely to masturbate than seek his/her spouse...which destroys the relationship.

It is self- sexual abuse
