Ok, well you are going to have to find time to eat healthy. I know your parents never taught you to eat right, but you are now an adult and can make up your own mind. First of all. Watch your carbs. These are a diabetics worst nightmare. Or so the docs here keep saying anyway. Your diabetes won't interfere with having children one day as long as you follow a good diet. Didn't your doc set you up with a nutritianist? He/she should have. There are alot of cookbooks and sites online that can help you with preparing food. and if you have a lot of questions, call your doc and have him/her set you up with someone who can help you with this and get you on the right path. Good luck.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Well, I will begin with saying that I have a lot of experience with diabetes. I personally do not have diabetes however my fiance has type 1 diabetes. Ironically, my fiance works for the American Diabetes Association. So not only do I have first hand knowledge of what a diabetic goes through, i have first rate access to a plethora of information that you may need.

First, were you diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, because there is a substantial difference. Type 1 diabetes makes you insulin dependent, where you take insulin shots several times a day to control your blood sugar. Type 2 diabetes is a bit differnet in that you may or may not be insulin dependent and can be controlled more so than type 1 diabetes.

Regardless of whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, it is very important that you stay away from foods with high amounts of sugar in them. Also, carbohydrates greatly influence what your blood sugar reading is. Foods high in carbs will drastically raise your blood sugar and you should really only eat high carb foods when your trying to bring your blood sugar up when you are extremely low.

As far as diets go, etc, check out the American Diabetes Associations website at www.diabetes.org. They have a ton of information on there and are able to answer any possible question that you may have. Their website also has a ton of healthy recipes (along with some good links to cookbooks with healthy recipes) for diabetics on the website. Basicly any thing you want to know, its on there. www.diabetes.org

or you can call 1-800-DIABETES and speak with a live help person who would be more than happy to assist you.

PS: Don't forget to test your blood sugar multiple times a day. The more you control your diabetes makes you more healthy and less prone to future problems related to diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association provides much information for you. I recommend joining it. Along with membership you receive a very informative monthly magazine.
I've provided a link to their cookbooks, a big variety which may be what you're looking for.
You need to sign up for a diabetes education course asap. You won't feel so confused after completing it.
I don't know what you're referring to when you say that "this is creating problems with my reproductive organs" ... it should not. You can have children but will have to take special precautions. My diabetic sister in law just had a perfectly healthy baby.
Initially, dealing with diabetes is overwhelming to many... you'll adjust. Take care.

The doctor should prescribe a diabetes education class for you. It's a two day class that teaches you everything you need to know about your disease, and how to manage it. You will also recieve a blood sugar testing kit free of charge. The class will be free if you have insurance.

Until you are able to go to the class, make friends with the glycemic index: http://www.glycemicindex.com/

Any foods that are low on the glycemic index are best for you, as they will not raise your blood sugar as much.

When you say that you are not severely overweight, what do you mean? What's your BMI (Body Mass Index)? If it is above 28, I would worry. To calculate: Weight in kg/( height in meters) squared. Or if you prefer: 703 x weight in lbs/ (height in inches)squared. Ideally you should be below 25. Watching weight should be a top priority. You might want to go on the Adkins diet or another effective diet to get your BMI under 25, then switch to an ADA diet (1800 cal or 2000 cal)

There is a good book called "Sugar Blues." I read it when I was first diagnosed. Since you are young I would suggest to you that you take up weightlifting immediately and become obsessed with it. The leaner you can stay the better.
