how can you tell if a dog is going to have puppies?

she has always been fat i really dont know she lays around on her side but she has been more "needy" lately

She'll start acting a little different, ex; changes in her eating habits. Take her to a vet to make sure.

Gestation period is 60-64 days from conception.
About halfway through that period,you should be able to feel around on her abdomen and feel the puppies move as you would a baby in a womans abdomen.
The closer your dog gets to having her puppies,she will start to engorge. . . her teats will enlarge and her "rosebud" will take on a somewhat larger shape and appear alittle more pink/red than usual.
A day or two before she goes into labor,her appetite will probably lessen and she will probably go outside a little more and could even have some diarrhea.
Hours before she starts to deliver,she will appear fretful or nervous and will not seem to know what she wants as she is becoming increasingly uncomfortable.
She will start to "nest". . . make a place for having puppies and you can bet that puppies are not far from being a part of your life for the next 6 weeks.

Her belly will begin to swell and her teats will enlage. But a vet can give you an immeadiate diagnosis.

after a while she is going to not want to eat cause she will have a upset stomach (morning sickness) my dog is pregnant to and she well start getting bigger and sleeping alot

she knows before anybody... and will start doing "nestings" things.. like gathering newspapers..towels..etc. for delivery.
