He does so good already with accidents here and there still:(

And he is about 6 months old, and we've been training him on this since Feb.
Just wanted to see what the estimated time is for how long dogs take to be "trusted" to go only outdoors...how long did it take for you?
He is a boxer/shepherd mix, he is very smart..he knows a wide variety of commands already. But cant seem to understand everytime is outside..lol

Thanks

The estimate is that dogs can hold their bladder for 1 hour for every month of age. So if your pup is 6 months then 6 hours is the Longest he can hold it or should be expected to hold it. At about 10 months to 1 year is when you can expect to be "accident" free.

It's not really a set time as to when a dog can become "potty trained" because my puppy was trained after just 2 days and he was about 4 wks at the time so each dog is different.

It partly depends on the breed of dog, but on average it usually takes until they are between about 9 months to a year before they have about 95% control. There will of course still be the occational accident. Just give your dog time and it'll be fine.

I have read that dogs can only be fully trusted after 2 years, when they are not puppies anymore. My yorkie was fully trained and trustable at the most 1 year. Just keep up the good work, he/she is still young but sounds like he is on the right track!
