I am constantly running around during the day and that has led me to make horrible meal choices. Usually in the morning I would grab a slim fast bar or sometimes a poptart and for lunch i ran through a drive thru to get something quick and easy. I am bound and determined to be done with the fast food for good, but then that requires me preparing something ahead of time. What are some very quick and easy meal plans that don't require a lot of time?

I just recently lost 40 pounds. You seem like you have some sort of weight concerns being that you are eating slim fast bars. Fast food sets off endorphins in your body and makes you crave it more when you eat it. I made the decision oneday to just stop eating it. I have become happier, skinnier, healthier and best of all I don't crave it.

There are some items if you are running around that you can get. Stay away from fast food salads. They tend to have more calories then a burger. Wendys try the chili, subway is a good option, eating healthy chinese ( you can order stuff to your liking), sushi is a failry healthy option. Even the avacodo in sushi is considered good fat. Pizza is also an ok option ONCE and a while. Im not talking 6 slices. 1 or 2 slices once a week.

However if you really want to stay away from the fast food. Commit yourself to preparing your meals. I was always dining out. Now every morning before i go to work it literally takes me 5 minutes and i prepare my meals. Rice crispies 1 1/4 cup and a piece of fruit with 1/2 cup milk, I then prepare a sandwhich for myself with a 100 calorie snack pack or a cup of grapes. As well as a cucumber or tomatoe or some sort of veggie on my cold cut sandwhich. Although cold cuts tend to be high in sodium. Also try preparing stuff the night before. It is easier that way.

Breakfast Ideas:
1. oatmeal mixed with fruit, cinnamon and a tiny bit of sugar. I have also been told if you mix in a tsp of peanut butter it is really good.
2. Egg whites with mixed vegeatbles (a bit time consuming)
3. good brands of cereal are fast and efficient. If you measure sizes beware a lot of cereals are only 3/4 cup. High in fiber cereals such as kashi are very good. Try a piece of fruit along with this
4. Prepared fruit salad would be good but you tend to get hungry faster after eating just fruit salad. You could try it with 1/2 cup - cup of low fat cottage cheese
5. there lowfat waffles and pancakes with light syrup. Then a cup of blueberries on top is good.

Dont cheese on your breakfast its the most important meal of the day

Lunch Ideas:
1. a Microwaveable meal. Just grab and go. Most jobs/schools have microwaves that you can access now a day. Something healthy though. The weight watchers smart ones are good. Also healthy choice.
2. cold cut sandwhich. Try and stay away from fatty cold cuts. I stick with chicken and turkey usually.
3. They have low sodium soups that you can microwave easily. With a cup of cut cucmber or carrots would be yummy. Maybe a 100 calorie snack pack of crackers.
4. A grilled/boiled chicken salad is good. Try and buy light dressing though (caan be prepared at night). Also be careful what you put in it.
5. sometimes i get those little individual tuna cans. mix it with light miracle whip and cut up onion, red peper and green pepper. It takes about 5 minutes and it is really good.

Mix stuff up and enjoy food. I wish this was helpful and not just long and annoying :-D

Sandwiches are so underappreciated. They don't have to be gross. You can do more than just ham and cheese.

Omelets are actually quite simple and quick to make. The problem is storage. If your work place provides a frigde, then you are set.

Steamed vegetables. Vegetables... steam... bam!

Rice is very versatile and you can make very large batches.
Same with pasta. You could take a few minutes to make a large batch that will last you at least two days.

The 'take along' cereal bowls and a carton of milk do the trick for me when I go to work.

You will also save a lot of money by bringing your own food. Fast food daily is very unhealthy and very spendy.

Good luck!

I too understand about eating on the go when entertaining a busy lifestyle. We have three children and eat out alot as well as at home too. I have found that you can eat healthy on the go but, you have just got to know your choices. Instead of a burger opt for a grilled chicken sandwhich or a wrap. Instead of a poptart walking out of the door opt for a piece of fruit. Fruit has natural essentials we need to jump start our day as well as our metabolisim.

Quick meals at home. Invest in a crock pot. Put a pot roast on the night before and set on low and let it cook until you get home the next evening. Simple....add the roast...add two packs of mushroom and onion mix (lipton)...you will mix this with two cups of water pour over roast and then add 2 more cups of water...salt ...pepper...and basil.. thats it leave it and let it cook overnight. before you leave for work the next morning add chunked potatoes and carrots...still leave on low and when you get back home you have a delicious dinner waiting..

also lasagna is quick and easy...chicken pot pie....broccoli and cheese casserole...this can all be made ahead of time and heated back up when you get home....

hope this helps.

What I did alot was cook the night before.. so when I got home the next day, I just had to heat it up. Otherwise I get too hungry to wait for food to cook and would get Mc Donalds. For snacks, i have a tray with veggies already cut up and ready to dip. Also healthy snacks, like nuts and seasme seed crackers. For breakfast we do a healthy cereal and or toast. For supper I usually do a meat in the toaster over (done in less then 45 mintues..). Spice it up and throw it in. Veggies in the mircowave well the meat cookds. All I have to really work at is the potatoes... baked (mashed takes too much for me), or I cut them in half after peeling them. Put oil on them and throw them in the oven, or just rice in the cooker... I usually throw things together and it cooks in 20-45 mintues (depending on the meat in the toaster oven) while I unwind... or I just BBQ... which is really quick

I like big salads... I buy the bagged lettuce, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, any pre-chopped veggies for that matter, cubed/shredded cheese for the basic part of the salad. For the meat/protein, I use the little tuna cans, imitation crab, shrimp, or any deli style meat in cube form. (You can either buy it pre-cut or have them cut it for you at the deli.) I just toss a handful of everything in a quart-sized ziploc bag and go. I also started using those salad-sprays so they don't have to be refrigerated, just keep it at my desk. I spray it into my bag and shake; eat it right out of the bag! (I teach school and we don't have time to go out; I usually work at my desk during lunch since it's only 30 minutes. Anything easy is best for me.)
My favorite sweet stuff are the little pudding cups and the Dole fruit and cream cups; neither have to be refrigerated. Those 100-calorie packs of chips and cookies are great too.
I have one of those mini-coolers and one of those blue ice packs. I throw in a couple of diet sodas, my lunch and snacks and go. I've also invested in plastic/picnic forks and spoons. Some people might disagree but it's convenient for me to toss my garbage in the trash and not have yucky containers to clean out. (I have two young children so preparing lunch has to be quick and easy for me.)

Hope this gives you some ideas!

you can grab some fruit, nectarines are really good, and for the price of a burger, you can get a few kilos worth, or get some yogurt, and drizzle on some oats, and dried fruit, these actually take less time than a fatty fast food meal being prepared, and its better for you
