A blank is a cartridge without a bullet, like what they use in the movies to pretend to shoot someone. When you fire a gun that has a blank in it, it look the same as firing a bullet.
"Shooting blanks" means that a man is ejaculating, but his sperm are not viable.

when a man gets fixed where he cant have any kids he still produces sperm but the baby making part of it is dead the sperm is dead, cannot activate anything so we call this shooting blanks it works but cant produce
