It might - if you have any joint credit - talk to your attorney and make sure he disassociates all debt from your estranged husband from you - understand that you are still married, so if you're in a community property state you will really be affected.

no, not at all. if you had any bills in both of your names then you will have to make the payments unless you file bankruptcy also.
