*streaks through yelling "MAC RULES"*

They both have the same capabilities, especially now that the same processor is being used. Your question is kind of miss-leading. Mac is a hardware company, they manufacture computers and other devices, and an operating system. Windows is the trademark of Microsoft, which is a software manufacturing company. The mac does not have near the software base that the pc has. There is software that allows you to run pc software on a mac. Pc's are less expensive then the mac in general. Both are fine products, but in my opinion, spend less, and get the computer that software manufacturers are writing for -- the PC.

I have used Macs for 2 years now and will never go back. I never worry if my computer is going to turn on or not, or running a spyware program, or antivirus, etc. In general, PCs are cheaper, but you get what you pay for. On the flip side, my main Mac is a used G3 that I bought on eBay for $150 and have put, say, maybe another $100 into it with a bigger HD, more memory, and a DVD Burner.
Although its not fast enough to edit videos or use as a DVR, it handles my day-to-day needs just fine and even runs the current OS. Can you run Windows XP on a PC made in 1999???
And btw, MS Office is NOT exclusive to PCs as there is a OSX version as well. Again the difference is in price, as without having the larger market share, OSX versions of software are going to be more expensive.
Although there is a bit of a learning curve for PC users, I found that the hardest thing was learning NOT to do things (like trying to defrag).

Mac is better for graphics, audio editing (comes with a very good song/beat maker). Mac computers dont have a big tower ( some of them do) just a moniter with motherboard built in Windows is pretty much all around but has less impressive graphics, windows has a lottt more programs than mac and a lot more accessories. Windows interface is much more user friendly and in my opinion easier to learn and manage.
i choose windows as my everyday computer.

I have both, and plan to continue to operate both Windows and OS X machines.

They both have their advantages. Windows platforms have a limitless supply of software and peripherals to choose from . . . along with a limitless supply of spyware, viruses, trojans, worms, and adware.

Macs are not the technological wonders that Apple claims they are, but OS X is the efficient, clean, intuitive, and secure OS that it's cracked up to be. OS X >> Windows.

For the Mac, you can pretty much forget about gaming (except for games ending in "Craft.") And you will be limited on your selection of certain input devices. Macs are also expensive and with the exception of the Mac Pro, have a near non-existent upgrade path.

It all depends on what you want. People who say "Macs suck" or "PCs suck" are brainwashed. Don't listen to them. Just weigh want you want out of your computer and make your own decision.

hi space_pontiff! i think it comes down to what u want to do with ur computer.

do u want to use it in a corporate office where u work and exchange documents with others that either work in the same office or another corporate office? if so, go pc/windows.

or do u want to use it for software development? if so, go pc/windows (although mac has really caught up here and is arguably as good as pc/windows).

or do u want to use it to do digital photography, edit video, make music, video-chat, complement ur ipod (sync calendar, contacts, music from itunes) all out-of-the-box? if so, go mac.

no doubt pc/windows hardware configs are more customizable, but microsoft is the target of most of the hackers in the world and thus is engaged in a never ending battle with hackers on their operating system and their applications. it is a well known fact that microsoft releases code with a lot of holes for software exploits.

macs, although not nearly as customizable (although since they switch to intel processors, this may be changing), the mac os x operating system code base is linux/unix, which the hackers use and love. therefore, it is less vulnerable because the code base is better, and there are just less hackers that want to attack os x.

if you want to see what creative things u can do on a mac out-of-the-box, then check out my videos by subscribing to my FREE video podcast on iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=183309259

The videos are all produced on an iMac with (99%) out-of-the-box hardware/software (Adobe Flash is the only other application used that did not ship with the iMac). hope this helps.

Betty

Why is MAC better...well let's see to begin with the major reason I like it so much is that it NEVER CRASHES on me when I used to use windows it used to make me cry....it was so frustrating....it would cut out right in the middle of my work...have been on Mac for about 4 years now and have never had a crash......also they are so much easier to use...and we do alot of graphics and music so it is great for that.....I will never go back to windows..but my mac is also windows compatible thanks to virtual PC or Bootcamp.....

Well, Apples are more expensive, but they fit a creative person. Windows seem to be the professional computer. Also, Windows may work better but it has more threats (viruses). That is how i see it.
