Your doctor orders a blood test. They draw a tube of blood from a vein in your arm. In a few days, the lab will have the result.

If you want to see if it's likely that you have celiac disease, try not eating any product with wheat or wheat gluten for 4 or 5 days and see if you feel better. You have to read labels and be careful to completely eliminate it from your diet. Lots of big grocery stores or health food stores have gluten-free products to substitute. There is an entire magazine devoted to celiac disease -- it's called Living Without. I think there is a website.

in response to the last post, it may take more than a few days, it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months to rid all of the gluten in your body. however i felt better within a week of not eating it anymore. the blood tests are not 100% because my husband and i were negative and our son was positive, and we know we both have it.
