I think we are a lost cause and they should let us fester in our ignorance.

I don't think that belief in a deity is ignorant, as an agnostic I am glad that people have found an answer to 'Is there anything more to life'. I have run into arrogance," I'm saved and your not." I find that some Christians can not explain why they believe in God. and that bothers me more than anything. Are they Christians through being sent to Sunday school and services for so long that they know nothing else but go to church every Sunday or do they really beleive anything?

Actually, my main complaint is that christians in general dont want to respect the rights of "non-believers" to believe different from them. Christians in general always want to promote their views at the expense of the views of others. Now, in regards to your question of whether we can smarten you up. Well, that depends on whether or not you as a christian would be willing to accept that your religion is not the only VALID religion. If so, then your not beyond help. If not, then theres no reconcilliation of our opposing views.

Christians are not ignorant in fact far from it a huge majority of doctors are in fact Christians also many Christians go to private schools and their for are probably quite a bit smarter than those who do not I do not think Christians need to be smartened up I just think we need to open our eyes to some of the things going on around us and try to be more excepting of others.

I have spent a great deal of time reading Christian writers, starting with Origen, Irenaeus, Augustine, Acquinas, and more recent authors such as Neimoller and Bonhoeffer. I don't think Christians are ignorant. I just don't believe that the premise upon which they base their thinking is one I can subscribe to.

Well, it has been shown that the more education a person has, the less likely that person is to be a Christian - or to observe any religion whatsoever. That does not necessarily mean all Christians are ignorant. My personal observation is that the more devoutly religious a person is, the less well-informed that person is. That still does not mean that all religiously devout people are ignorant. The real tragedy is that they're usually too frightened of being wrong to allow themselves to listen to reason.

Yes or that we believe in a myth. Rene Descartes was a Christian, a lot of the people (scientists) who studied the Shroud of Turin converted to Christianity. I'm a Christian and my I.Q. is in the upper 1 percentile in three intelligence tests. So I guess that argument is pretty moot.

Nothing a little education wouldn't cure. There have been studies, however, that find that the higher someone's IQ, the more likely they will be secular. We also see a lower incidence of liberal post-secondary education (college or university for the academically challenged) in those who are more conservatively religious i.e. fundamentalists, evangelicals, etc.

If someone calls you ignorant because you don't believe what they believe, who is the real idiot in that scenario? No one is smarter if they believe in God and vice versa. By ignorant, they probably mean enlightened and that's relative. If you think you're stupid, go read a book. There's no reason to rely on someone else to drop some knowledge on you unless you're lazy and don't feel like doing the leg work yourself.

You can smarten yourself up just by doing a little scientific reading.

I know I am not ignorant. Maybe an intelligent question is needed in order to answer with intelligence.
