well as the story goes... I had Breast Cancer and now I think it has returned..and yes I am having an ileostomy too...many people have more than one system failure at a time unfortunately for myself and those....so I have a tumor on my spine so my doctor ordered an MRI to see if it was a metastisis from my breast....to my bone....and in the MRI I have lots of white spots and just wondered if anyone out there had MRI of the Breast....and yes they do MRI of the Breast quite frequently now....it is much better than the mammogram..for us high risk folks....I have not seen the doctor and she is waiting for my CT scan and other test to come in ....and then I will find out everything..but I was just curious if anyone out there had had an MRI for the breast ....etc

I apologize...I just saw in the news today where the American Cancer Society is recommending MRI's of the breast for certain high risk individuals....I was wrong...your oncologist or gynecologist should be able to tell you more...I know that sometimes it can be scary to ask...

Sorry if I was suspicious...sometimes people play games here with questions...I am sorry you are having so many problems at once. I will say a prayer for you...

I had breast cancer...they sometimes do a special mammogram with smaller plates to focus on a suspicious area...and also sometimes do ultrasound...sometimes there is a liquid cyst alongside a cancerous tumor...they can drain that with syringe, then test that liquid for cancer cells..then they do a stereotactic biopsy of the growth ..

Then if it is cancerous, depending upon the size and other factors , they will suggest a lumpectomy with radiation (and possibly chemo) or a mastectomy with chemo....some people start reconstruction with the mastectomy surgery, some don't choose that ....But since you had breast cancer before, you may have been thru these tests before...

As to the white patches and what they mean...I don't know, and maybe your doctor doesn't know for sure until he does all the tests...if it were a benign thing for certain, then he probably would have said so already...sorry...it still might turn out to be benign fibrocystic condition...sorry about the metastases...when you hear about it happening to others who had breast cancer, it gives you pause...like Elizabeth Edwards...and in my city there is a young newswoman (30s) who got past her 5 year mark from breast cancer survival and has a young child and now she had to do chemo again because she found out it is in her bones...I will say a prayer for you...

Did you talk to th dr who ordered it??

You don't get an MRI without an order from the dr, and he gets the result from the radiologist. Did you schedule a follow up appt.??
Call him in the AM and see if he has the results.
