I was thinking of putting engineered wood flooring in my home, am wondering about durability?

Durability will varie by wood species and quality of finish, but engineered wood is not necessarily inferior to solid wood in this way. It can even be refinished at least once if necessary. Check the wear through warranty on the product - 25 years is about right for mid-grade flooring.
