Due to loss of troops, and few Millitary Volunteers, this country may reinstablish "The Draft."
If there was a Draft, Would you go? Why?

I am 15, and if there was a draft, once I was 18, I would go.
I admit that at times I Dont like war, But if given the chance, I would gladly serve this country to protect our freedom and the freedom of others. if I had to, I would even give my life.

However, due to my medical Condition, by law I can not be forced to be drafted,
it would be my choice

I am glad that you want to serve your country! You are a brave young patriot! Yes, I would fight to defend my country any day ! My nephew is serving in Iraq now. We are all worried about him. The draft might be a good idea since it would serve as a deterrent for political leaders to not make wars for foolish reasons and without just cause. If their children were the ones to fight and die, I wonder if we would have even been in Iraq? Iraq is not a just war. I do not think our kids even need to be there. It seems like there are bigger threats looming and we are wasting our resources and the precious lives of our young people there! I admire our troops and support them! I do not agree with our leaders who led us into this war with Iraq! We have not even caught Bin laden! Why did we go to Iraq?
My father was a patriot and a World War 2 vet! My ancestors fought in the Civil War and died. My family has a long history of fighting and giving their lives for this country. Yes, I would go to protect my country and our freedom. I just do not think that is what we are doing in Iraq! However, your brave spirit inspires me and I am glad young people like you are Americans! God bless you and God bless America!

Well first I would like to say that I would proudly serve along side of anyone who would willingly lay their life on the lines for others. That is what we need most.

I am currently serving in the millitary and I am hoping that the draft is not reinstated. This is an all volunteer army. It should stay that way. Whether or not you choose to join the millitary is part of your freedom.

But as for you wanting to join. You should sit down with a few people in every branch (and not the recruiters) and see what they have to say about what they do. The millitary is not for everyone. You need to choose wisely

That being the case, you should just go ahead and enlist when you turn 18. The military can be a great career, or even a great short stop on the way to the rest of your life.

I think the key point to remember that if we were to go back to a draft (HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!!!), you wouldn't have much of a choice...that's the point of a draft. I doubt a draft in 2007 would be the same as during Vietnam...too many things have changed, and simply going to college should not be considered an excuse to get out of it.

As a veteran I would go in a heartbeat. Give me some cami's, a plane ticket to the sand box and an M-16, I'm there.

I love my country and would do anyhting to protect it. I might not like or agree with everything this country does, but if my country needed my help I would do whatever I could.

Actually there are alot of volunteers and there is really not that much trouble meeting the goals, for inlistment, If we were to expand the war or to have another war start, then we would ahve to, But there has been no serious discussion of starting the draft, expect by liberals trying to make the war seem worst

Good for you. I would go in a heart beat. In fact, I already did six years and an currently a military spouse.

I think it is easy to forget that the military isn't just about fighting wars. There are many lessons to be learned about yourself and about life when you join the military. Add to that the honor of serving your country, and what shame is there in that?

Even if there isn't a draft, you might still consider the military as an option for your future.

I grew up in the militiary, I would go in a heartbeat, but they won"t take me, too old, would'nt take me way back then either, but I tried. the good 'ole U. S.A. ain't what t used to be, now days you can drive by & shoot some one, but, all guns have to be registered, you could go outside after dark & play "kick the can" with all the other kids, now, if your out after curfew you get arrested. I could go on & on, times & people change, but It is still the GOOD 'OLE U.S.A. & even if you only have a pot to pee in atleast you have that & should be very thankful because this is the only country you can have as many privledges as you do & still take them ffor granted. who would'nt want to protect that

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

You should be proud of yourself for what your saying and feeling. I was in the Gulf War in 1990, and now there are few teenagers today who know what honor is!
