One thing is that your practice chipping more. Short game is also very important and will reduce your scores once you get good enough with it. Another tip I use is that your should know how the greens. Know what type of shot to use around the green and what club would be best to use (i.e. flop shot, chip and run, high chip, low chip). Once you practice more, then you will realized what shot to use. Hope this helps.

Keep your lower body quiet. The less movement in your legs, the better. Chipping is all in the arms and hands.

Don't decelerate through the chip. Commit to a tempo. Chips have to be hit crisply.

Keep your hands ahead of the ball.

Hit DOWN on it. Don't try to pick it.

Don't get caught up in using different clubs around the green until you become more proficient at it. A 60 degree wedge is useless in the hands of anyone except top players. Use your stock wedge on a decent lie. It's easier to hit.

When you chip, try to get the ball on the putting surface as soon as possible and rolling to the hole, instead of trying to flop a high shot next to the pin.

Pick a spot where you want the shot to land, and try to put it there without worrying about what happens next.

I try to make sure I hit my chips between the ball and the flag. Also, keep in mind the slope between the ball and the flag. Part of your problem might be playing "tennis" around the greens where you try to hit the perfect shot, only to see the ball roll off the green on the other side. Even if by hitting short you leave longer putts, it's better than two putting after taking two by getting on the green.

well everyone says that around the green you should use a pitching wedge or something with even less loft because it will get the ball rolling quicker and you will have better chances of making the chip.........i completely disagree.....i use my lob wedge to chip most of the time and do better with it than i do with any other club to chip because i can chip it right up close to the hole and it only will roll another foot or so........so even if you dont make it you wont be more than 3 feet away as long as u hit a DECENT chip......it doesnt even have to be good

chipping and putting are strong parts of my game. When I was younger I used to chip in our hallway. This may seem kind of strange but now when I'm lining up a chip and roll shot I actually visualize the shot in my hallway in my head to estimate distance. Another important thing to do is minimize body movement. I like to refer to the swing as a pendulum swing. Good luck.

There is only one way to improve your chipping. Practice, practice, practice. Have a pro give you a lesson and some tips/pointers and then practice until you hate the game. Good luck.

tip 1- Set up with your stance slightly open to target, hands slighly ahead of the ball. Close your eyes and hit the shot with smooth acceleration. This will keep you from lunging at the ball at the last second. You're hitting "through it", not "at it".

Soft hands. Practice till your ears fall off and then practice chipping off of your ears.
