Can someone explain to me the correct way to do this, like if its possible to leave vaseline in too long.

If you put Vaseline in your hair, you are going to be damn sorry. It does not come out. The damage you will do by having to scrub it with dish soap is a lot worse than whatever is going on with your hair now. Go get some good conditioner.

The only remedies Vaseline is going to give you are:
A. Keeps lice out of your hair
B. Leaves you looking like a drown, New York City sewer rat
C. Desperate for a date on Saturday night

OH MY!!!!
Who told you to Vaseline in your hair. That is a big no no unless you have curly or extremely dry hair. Other wise you have a huge grease ball on your head that is famiable. You need to shampoo and take it out soon as possible and you will be washing for along time i did that and it took 8 washings to get all of it out if you need a rememdy for hair here is a website that is all natural http://www.womanlyweb.com/0505-BF-Natural-Haircare.php

Just leave it in for 15 minutes or so. Be sure to wash it completely when you're through!
(Leaving it on too long won't hurt your hair...it will just be uncomfortable!)
You might want to try mayonnaise or olive oil instead. They tend to wash out easier!

euuuw you cant put vaseline in your hair it does nothing for it.
use warm olive oil instead.
like duuuh its petroleum.

i dont think so
i use vaseline as my normal hair moisterizer and nothing bad has happened 2 my hair because of it

I don't think there would be any damage if you left it in too long...
Just put in in, wait a little while, and wash it out. Simple!
