I'm having difficulty maintaining my composure and not letting certain things get to me at work and at home I've tried counting to ten, thinking before I speak, and running. Let's just say I run a lot now. Have lost weight, but am still needing assistance with this. Please help Thanks. Trilli

For one, Bob G is correct. You can find humor or a silver lining to almost every situation. If you simply find this, much of your stress will be alleviated.

The best advice that I can give you to lessen you worries is to simply pray to God. He will help you. The bible says, "Cast all your anxieties on him and he will make your paths straight." If you trust in the Lord then he will take your pain and help you deal with it. Nothing is impossible with God on your side.

Good Luck Trilli,

My answer is my sense of humor. The more stressed I get the more outrageous my humor becomes. Weird jokes, quips and puns and even pranks help me get past the stress.

Start by getting up and taking a deep breath. Now let loose with a loud scream. Feel better? If not, take a pillow into a room away from everybody else and beat it too death.

I'm sorry, I am not trying to be flippant. I really mean it. Look on the far side of things. There is humor in almost everything. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to find the humor but it is there if you look hard.

Seriously, email me if you'd like. I can give you better suggestions and it does help.

I learned this breathing tecnique and it had done wonders. It's 100 times better than counting to ten. First inhale for 16 counts very slowly. Then hold your breath for 12 counts. Then slowly exhale for 8 counts. These are slow counts. Do this for 5 reps and you will be at a much better place. Try to picture a calming colour when you're doing this.

Why so stressed? Are you anxious? What is really bothering you - especially at home. Try to address it and you might feel better. Just another angle?...
