Actually, they didn't have sex until they left the garden. Up to then it was all fruit and naming animals. Once they left the garden, however, both of them were miserable, they had whining kids, one of whom grew up to be a criminal, so, it was just like most marriages.

Try reading that again - they were married - God did the wedding Himself
Genesis 2:24-25 NIV
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame

God was their ALL. He was all they knew and all they had ever known. Their creator, their teacher, their paster, they were joined together by God, Himself! Adam looked around and seen one male and one female of every creature, and he was saddened by it. So God said,"It's not good for man to be alone." So He created Eve, for Adam. God gave her to Him. You can't get much more married than that!!
God commanded them to multiply and fill the earth. They didn't just do it on their own, nor did they choose each other. Infact, if you read it closer, you will see that before they disobeyed God, they didn't even KNOW they were naked!
There is no greater honor , no Higher authority, no justice of the peace, or paster, Greater than God Almighty Himself, in person to join two people together. You can't get more authentic than that!
If it were OK to have sex with someone who is NOT your wife, there would be no such thing as adultery, and God would have given Adam 20 women, or 10, or 7, or even 2 women, But He didn't. It was His will for EACh man to have his OWN wife. He wants for the love between two people to become so strong, that nothing can come between them.
Technically, if you sleep with someone, and that persons ends up marrying someone else, then that person you slept with was someone else wife. They just hadn't met each other yet. You wouldn't do it after they got married, right, that would be adultery.
How do you know who a persons been with before you? If she slept with someone else, or several men before you, how can you be sure she won't do it again? THAT"S what makes premarital sex wrong.
It's not about being married by a paster. It's all the people who get hurt. Sex was designed by God to be between a man and a woman who LOVE each other. Some people have sex with whoever just to have sex-That's how people get hurt THAT is sin!
God intended us to love the person we are with, not USE people to get sex from. If each person was faithful to the one they are with, we wouldn't have so many broken homes. It's the children that get brought into this world, because two people who never intended to get married, or stay together, have sex. There is more children in this world today that don't know who their real father is, than any other time in history. Things happen, she gets pregnant, he gets scared, and takes off. THAT is having sex in sin!
Alls God intended, was for a man and a woman to love each other, to be faithful, and true to each other, and for the sakes of future lives, stay with that person, if you plan to have sex, because if you bring another life into this world, that child needs a mother AND a father. That's why a person shouldn't have sex with someone they don't know, don't love or truly care about, or don't get along with, THAT is why premarital sex is wrong.
My husband and I just exchanged vows to God. It is God that you have to give an answer to someday, not the paster. There is something about making a vow to God, that sticks. It's easy to break a promise to another person, and it might not even bother you that much. But when you make vow to God, you tend to keep that. Because after all, it's God you promised.
Everyone on this earth, from Adam and Eve til now, will stand before God one day, and be rewarded according to what he/she has done, for both the good and bad. When He asks you, "what do you have to show Me?" or "What have you done, with what I gave to you?" what are you going to say......................

There is nothing that says you have to have a pastor to be married. Also, if you would read that part of Genesis, you would see that God put them together. That is how marriage works.

God put them together and married them. Yes, they actually heard his voice. So, they were married and did not have premarital sex.
