Some people invented a fairytale, and claimed it to be true. They called it God. Every question that still has to be answered, is answered by them with "Goddidit". Their answer is holding back MY society from finding real answers to real questions.
Thousands of years ago Thor made thunder. Real people found out what really caused thunder, and Thor was unemployed. Yet, your answer to many other questions still is: Goddidit. That answer is an attack on scientic progress. Progress that MY society needs. Progress that my future children need.
In 7 US states it is still in the law that atheists can't hold a position in public office. You drenched MY society in a bucket filled with your God.
And yet, you ask why I question the fact that your imaginary God slows down the progress that can be made in MY society. How arrogant is a person that even has the nerve to ask why I am here?

I believe in my interpretation of "God". But I profoundly agree with, and defend your right to post here and share your views, without open forums for discussion such as these sharing of thoughts and opinions would cease to exist.
Post on my atheist friend!

You realize that the western world is built on Christianity. Everything in the last 1500+ years is related somehow to CHristianity. This is why I don't understand "my society". Apparently you have your own society seperate from America, founded as a Chirstian nation with the help of deists. Good luck with that one I guess.
PS: the 1st amendment allowed states to declare official religions, it was only intended to apply at the federal level. The (15th amendment?) was used to push the amendments on the states within a strict constitutional sense.

You know, it's funny. Why is it that you guys persecute the existence of God and the Bible? Especially J.C. You all "Claim" he is a fictional character. Not even worth being mentioned in history. (And I attest that he was the ONLY man to conquer the world without ever using a weapon.) And, as I said, there is little mention of Christ in the history books because he is passed over for the Roman Empire, which, holds prominent men and rulers who were around in the time of J.C. And to stupidly say "MY SOCIETY" is wrong because this is "EVERYBODIES SOCIETY" now. And again, America was founded on religion, (I.E. "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."-OUR 1st President G.W.) And any other "Deist" Treaty was signed after the establishment of God and Religion. (And did you forget every country has a religion to back up their policy?)
And if God is imaginary, how did you get here?

I've done it before... :D
Your society is looking for how things work. Sure, that's great progress.
But what purpose do they have? Why do they exist? What is right and what is wrong?
Those are the questions that the Bible answers.

How arrogant? Not as arrogant as your question, I can say that much with certainty. Why is it your society? It's either society or our society. And Christians aren't against scientific advances either. Do a little research, since science is so precious to you. No, wondering why a materialist such as yourself posts on boards designated for spiritual questions and answers is not half as arrogant as you suggesting that society is more yours than ours, i.e., everyone's.

Well this site is called religion and spirituality. Since Atheists subscribe to neither I don't know why they insist on posting here.
By the way your question should be posted in the Politics section or the Myths section.

As we push back the bounds of ignorance the need for "God did it" recedes--Lord knows we need more unity in this shrinking world--but the divisive tribalism of organized religion prevents it--as history shows--and what we are witnessing right here & now!!

Almost as arrogant as someone who keeps saying "MY society" in his question.
May God Bless you.

It isn't wrong or arrogant to try to understand someone Else's perspective so asking why you are here is a fair question, it is when they tell you to get the hell out of here that they are being arrogant.
By the way it isn't your society or my society it is Our society (a little arrogant yourself to refer to society as yours and yours alone isn't it?) and Scientific is spelled scientific.
