this is a part of an ap us history project and i'd like to know any specific events that contribute to labor force, culture on society, and influence on political gov't. (ie: irish coming due to a potato famine -> more labor -> low wages.) stuff like that.

The gold rush brought a large influx of Chinese immigrants into the bay area- it had a huge influence on the area, and the local society. They were essentially slave labor and built the railroads. They worked in mines.

Today, the largest number of ethnic Chinese outside of China live in San Francisco.

Also, in 1851, there were over 20,000 refugees from France who emigrated to America, mostly political refugees from the failed French revolution of 1848.

How about the goverment for buffalo hides , or free land all you had to do was kill natives to keep it . or maybe the gold rush
