my hubby is a basketball coach 4 a boys team and i brought my 5 yr old 2 da game once she ran out in the court and messed up the play i called her and i said don't u ever ever do that again u understand if u do i'm going to spank u nothing else works but a bare bottom warming so 10 minutes later she did it again her dad kept looking at me with a serious face so i pulled her and took her to the bathroom pulled her shorts down sat her cross my knee and gave her a couple of swats she was crying and said sorry then she was walking away and i said wait 4 momy like 3 times and she ran into the parking lot and she knows she isnt aloud 2 do that ever i grabbed her and i said y did u do that and she said i wanna play hide and seek i said no u get your bottom inside b4 u get another spankin so she skippd in 2 the street again and insisted to get her way so i had 2 leave so when we got home i gave another bottom warming and the rest of the day she behaved was it rite 4 me 2 do that wat wud u do

i had 2 leave bcuz i didnt want 2 emberass her or myself anymore and just couldn't handle her behavior whenever i spank her usually it takes a couple stinging swats to her bare bottom then she is good time out taking toys no privelages nothing works but a good bare bottom warming from daddy or mommy

Some children run in public like this, but I do not understand how she got away from you the second time. If you had problems with her running off you should have had her by the hand or carried her if she resisted. It is not just a matter of being embarrassed, but of safety. I have nothing against spanking as a last resort if it works for the child (it doesn't for all children), but I am concerned why you and your husband feel a need for a "bare bottom warming". Corporal punishment is one thing, but there is no reason to pull down a child's underpants except for humiliation. Also, of the 10 questions you have asked on Yahoo answers, 7 are about spanking...that is disturbing.

About the spanking i think you were absolutly right but maybe you should be more consistent. If she is that bad it doesnt sound like you are.When i was littel if my daddy said not to do something he didnt even have to tell me i would get a spanking if i did it, I already knew i would. Oh and for all of you who are saying that spanking hurts a child you are wrong .Parents have been spanking their kids for ages and it worked on most people.

You child should have been sitting with you and not been able to run out on the court to begin with. That is YOUR fault and not the child's. Though I do believe in spanking, you are spanking your child for the wrong reasons. All of those things could have been prevented by good parenting without the need for spanking.

If this is what works and you have tried alternatives, then you need to follow thru with it, or she will call your bluff. As long as you are calm and remain consistent, then a good butt warming is what she may need, especially if she is putting herself in danger. I think that is what is wrong with kids today, parents don't spank when they need to. I take away the TV and that works like a charm with my 6yr old, but my 3 yr old could care less and time out in his room or a butt warming is the answer at times.

If you told your child that you were gonna spank her if she did it again and she did you should spank her. Don't telll her you are gonna spank her then don't. When you were leaving the game you should have keep a hand on her at all times. or get one of those leash things. That way she cannot get away form you. If she gets away form you she could walk out infront of a car and get KILLED.
Basicly just do what you say you are gonna do and when you two are walking or anytime outside keep a hand on her at all times.

I don't beleive in spanking. It doesn't take all that much intelligence to hit a child, Apes hit their offspring. As a human I'm just slightly more intelligent than an ape and used that intelligence to discipline my child rather than hit her.
