Ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg remind me of Christmas because those are three spices that my Mom used a lot in holiday baking. Cocoa makes me think of the fudge that she used to make around Christmas time, too.

Sage and poultry seasoning are spices that I associate with Thanksgiving and turkey with stuffing. Poultry seasoning also makes me think of winter because it's the main seasoning in Mom's chicken and dumpling recipe.

Vanilla is a spring/summer flavor because of homemade ice cream and root beer floats. Fall would be things like pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg on rice puddings, and cinnamon in apple butter.

I have just officially made myself hungry! :-)

Cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla----fall and winter for all the sweets and warm dessert dishes

Red chili flakes/powder, Cumin, Paprika---anything hot for the summer dishes (probably because it's hot!)

Basil, bay leaves, onion powder, garlic powder, ginger --all make me think of late summer (almost fall)
