Actually it's the other way round.
Christians mockAtheists, and those who follow other belief systems, much more than they are mocked themselves.
As for a moral obligation to do what's right, everyone has that, but forcing Christianity down other peoples throats is not right

Athiests don't just sit there and mock others. Some Christians do it as well and disguise it as spreading the word of God. It's also nice to see that you asked a question and have already decided that the answers won't be good enough. I don't see what moral obligation has to do with spreading your beliefs. If you choose to, wonderful, if you don't, that's fine too. Why force something down someones throat if they don't want to hear it? What does it matter to you what someone else does or does not do?

You don't seem to understand. Atheism is not a religion. We don't feel the need to go and "spread" our beliefs around the way that Christians do, because we're not concerned that our souls are damned if we don't. We also know how it feels to have others constantly trying to cram their beliefs down OUR throats. Our lives are not consumed with our lack of belief in a God, any more than they're consumed with our lack of belief in Santa. It's just a part of us. I do want people to use their brains a little more. I don't care if they believe in a deity or not, I just think that maybe people should not be afraid to question a little more, rather than just blindly accepting anything their pastor or fellow believer tells them. If you believe that your very SOUL depends on knowing the absolute truth, then there SHOULD be suspicion surrounding each and every thing you're told, and everything you're expected to believe.

Christians believe that God exists and is personally interested in them and that he encourages them to go out and spread the gospel, whether it's wanted or not, to people all over the world.
Atheists don't believe that God exists and therefore is not driving them to proselytize. People generally arrive at atheism by a long process of quiet study and observation. It is highly unlikely that you'll see them marching round singing "Onward Atheist Soldiers."
If you'd like to be an atheist, go right ahead. You can even be the most atheist atheist of all, and no one will stand in your way. By the same token atheists do not try to compel people to believe, they invite.

Us Christians have a personal relationship with the Lord to share with others. Atheists only have their hate for anyone who has had the wool pulled over their eyes. There is no belief system that they are passionate about.
They believe in themselves, the goodness of their character, and their high moral standards.
However they balk against any set of rules by which to live.
It appears from the responses, the only thing Atheists are passionate about is that something does not exist.
Can't they find something that does exist to be passionate about?
BTW: The Atheists have not disproved anything, and I am sure there is someone with a lot of money that would give it to the first person that could provide absolute irrefutable proof that God does not exist.

Personally, I think that atheists are less likely to try to share their views with others for a few different reasons:
1. They have had other people try to cram different religious views down their throats more than once, and it wasn't pleasant. Why do would they want to inflict that on other unsuspecting people?
2. When they do try to discuss their views of religion with others, most have had the experience of being told they are disrespectful, stupid, morally bankrupt, offensive, etc... many atheists have been flat out attacked, verbally OR physically, for trying to share their views.
3. Many atheists, the older they get, realize that the "battle" needs to be fought in other, more subtle ways. When you push against someone, they push back twice as hard. When you take them by the hand and lead them, they are alot more likely to come over to your way of thinking.

Getting up and spreading your beliefs=converting=lying=brainwashing
We atheist are not here to convert any one. Just to teach. Plus pushing your beliefs on people is a big turn off.

CheshireCat is right, by mocking your beliefs we are spreading ours. I happen to be very passionate about the fact that God doesn't exist.

As a Christian my passion is to share the light that I have been entrusted with. The clock is ticking and soon the light will no longer shine. In my opinion the time of Tribulation will begin within a period of 20 years. There is so much confusion and anger in the world's view of God as evidenced in this very small cross-sectional.
Further,I believe that the mocking and insults stem from an underlying set of emotions and sin such as fear and rebellion and bitterness and are fueled by wrong thinking and ignorance.

Because our lives are not centered on what we believe, or don't believe.
Having no belief in such thing is only just one of the many facts that make us who we are, right along with height, eye color, etc. Unlike believers, it's not a big life focus-point thing.
