Some highschool idiots posted this banner at a parade, but I really don't know what the banner represents.

A bong is a water-fed pipe for smoking weed.
It has nothing to do with being a Christian, and the kids were being idiots, just like you said. Now the whole world knows how dumb they are.

The banner was a joke attempt to challenge free speech: the person mocked the notion of a particular group being "for Jesus" ("Republicans for Jesus," "accountants for Jesus") by presenting drug use as being done for Jesus. Ha ha. They made him take the sign down, which is why the song was written. It's all about being to insult anyone and get away with it.

Bong is the colloquial term for a water-pipe used generally to smoke marijuana, and a hit is the process of smoking from such an implement.
So essentially they are saying "Smoke Pot for Jesus", a strange thought one might think.

A bong is a water pipe used to smoke marijuana. A hit is when you inhale smoke from marijuana. Jesus is a mythical character who serves as the primary figure in Christianity.
"Bong Hits for Jesus" is funny because Christians are not supposed to do drugs. It's a sin. Which is really kind of silly because pot is not a man-made chemical. It was created by God. "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed." (Genesis 1:11)
Personally I only do bong hits for Quetzalcoatl. He's much more of a party God. And he likes tequila shots too.

many are against pot, etc. say its bad, makes you dumb, etc. but the bible is clear and states God gave it to man as a food. meaning for food, health or fun.
Genesis 1:29 tells us this. since most Christians are against pot smoking and look down on those that do it, some that are Christians and others that aren't, who smoke, remind the stiff Christians that it is in the bible.
I myself agree, man has deemed it bad due to other reasons for profit in other markets, it is not bad. It even cures at least 3 cancers they have found out.

It was just a kid being an idiot, and it turned into a whole thing because he got in trouble for putting up the sign, and now it's becoming a free-speech court case. (If I wasn't so patriotic, it would almost make me be embarrassed to be American.)

they are taking hits of weed with a bong for jesus- jesus wouldn't approve or participate in such activity so the "idiots" as you call them are making fun at the expense of jesus by engaging in this activity.
