i`m 22 weeks pregnant, and i been taking benadryl for allegeries and to help me sleep.
I read a book about pregnancy and medicine you take over the counter and it said that it was catergory B and not very safe to take.
But my docotr said it was ok to take. Has anyone else taking this medication and how did it affect your pregnancy?

Category B means that although it has never closely been studied in humans, animal studies or less stringent studies in humans have shown it to be safe. Therefore, it is considered to be safe for human use.
Keep in mind that medicines are all ranked by pregnancy category, including A, B, C, D, and X (with A being the best and X an absolute no-no). To be an A there needs to be a really good randomized, controlled trial showing no harm. As you might imagine, trying to enroll pregnant women in a study about finding out whether a medicine could harm their baby may be quite difficult, so these are hard to find.
Keeping this in mind, nowadays a category B drugs are about as safe as they come!

benadryl and tylenol are two of the safest drugs to take while pregnant. And if you look on the bottle, it says to consult your doctor if pregnant or nursing, which you did, and they said you were good.

if your doctor said it was ok, then it should be, but check the bottle's directions and warnings. if it says not to, then don't.
