Go for what you feel is right for your new german shepherd puppy. If you like the name "Chester" and feel comfortable with it, then that is great. It does not matter what anyone else thinks.

Chester the Molester?

Sorry but Chester sounds like a name for a guinea hog. Maybe Chet if you want to keep in the same line? It's your choice you will just have to see what his temperament is and how he reacts to different names. That's is the only way to really name a pet.

I agree with you, Chester's a great name for a German Shepherd. It's a strong, classy, loyal and smart name- just like a Shepherd. Perfect name, perfect dog.

Edit*** I just read the other answers...if they don't like "Chester", they don't know what they're talking about. Stick with Chester.

I like unusual names for pets. If a human has been named it, I won't name my dogs it! I don't like Chester for a German Shepherd.

Chester the molester has been a statement for many years. I myself do not care for the name Chester either. SOWWIE.

Sorry, I agree with your sister. Chester sounds a little comical for a German Sherpherd.

Why does your sister think that it sounds weird?
My ex was always reminded of "chester -the- molester" when he heard the name, tho Im not sure where that came from.
BUT If you like the name then go with it! Its your dog, right? not your sister's?

It does sound a little more like a cat name, not a name you would give a german shepherd

How about something like Chip or any other name that has some pop to it that will immediately get your dog's attention when you say it.
