Today my guy friend told me that he thinks i have a shield around me (including giant spikes) to protect me from letting anyone in, but that i don't need them.

I'm not sure if he meant this as a compliment or a insult.
I thought that I have been very clear about my intentions to date him...but he hasn't responded.

I am not sure if he is playing with me at this point, or whether he wants to date me.

I'm not sure what other info you'd need to help with this, but let me know!

well,i think u should talk things over. i mean trust really is a big factor in having a successful relationship,so if he doesnt have one for you then probably there's some insecurities or problems in him which needs to be discuss..

i don't think it was a compliment or an insult.....it was just a statement and i know how you both feel...he probably would date you but he feels that if he does you won't be affectionate and show your true feelings because there is a wall built up around you....and you have this wall around you for protection which can be useful but makes life difficult if there is no one in your life who you can trust with a key to unlock the wall and let your true feelings out.....what i'm saying is confide in him, maybe let a little more of your inner self out

well I think he just wants u to be less protective and and trust other people. talk to him, go make the first move and let your guard down so he can try to make a move. good luck

have a nice day

Maybe you seem to be protective over issues and perhaps you could learn to trust people more and open up. Of course, you can gradually do this and it takes time to learn to trust.
