i mean if they had deleted the old testament (fairy tales about a god destroying whoever opposed him, and whales swallowing people and men boarding all the animals in the world and nonsense like that) and had just left the new one, it would have been easier to convert new adepts...

i am not 8 but the old testament just makes difficult to buy (no pun intended) this christian religion...it is really a burden in the bible for the conversion of new adepts and christianity really needs new people to convert or they are bound to be swallow by the earth as one of the first answerer´s theories

God doesn't need to convert people by omitting what He has done in the past to prove His sovereignty. They wrote what they saw. You either believe the evidence before you or you don't. The Spirit of God does the changing. It's obvious today's evidence does nothing to disprove the bible. Otherwise, the millions who believe and follow it's teaching would give it up. Why follow it if you believe it's nonsense? But that's not the case. Many do believe it and all men have the choice of accepting or denying it. You included.

some events happened to show God's power and sovereignty over all the earth and everything in it. Look at the story of Moses taking his people out of Egypt. God hardened the Pharaoh's heart to defy Moses' request to let his people go free. The atrocities may have been so great against God's people that to let them off that easy was not fair. It also shows in these stories that God's wrath that we should fear his mighty hand as we do our Dad's when we did something wrong. Do you remember a light correction from your parents or the justified whooping you got for something you did. The new testament signifies that we are in the days of God's Grace if we choose to except what his Son did on the cross for our sins. glad to see you in this forum searching for answers.
