ok i'm lost did i somehow relate to Clinton? i haven't said anything bad about him. there are hundreds of things hes done right too.

2007-03-27 15:04:22 · update #1

and why do you have the right to say hes ignorant as i think some of you did? because our soldiers went and shed their own blood for our country. Any President should be respected, regardless of what you think of his decisions.

i'm sorry. i must not have made my self clear. i don't agree with all of the presidents decisions, but i think we should still respect him. and please don't ever try to compare me to a nazi.

I refuse to show any negativity towards ANY president of our country or our troops!!!! I support everything in this country and always will. And I will call out any moronic liberal that defaces our great country and our Commander-In-Chief!!! I will raise my son and the rest of my future children to support this great nation. I will inflence all my friends and family to stand United behind our President (no matter who it is) because that is what this country is supposed to be...UNITED. Not a bunch of idiotic, protesting weaklings undermining our very existence. Have your opinion, but do not be disrepectful. Support the military and the WAY OF LIFE that they have provided for you to have. Support our troops!!! God Bless the USA!!!

A simple challenge? Not likely. More like a trap into getting someone to agree to your opinion because you've posed two, maybe even three, different issues. But, since this is rather fun, I'll bite.

First of all ... there is a First Amendment issue. No one LETS anyone talk. They have the total right to do so. You can't stop them and neither could I.

Second ... "talking like that (and, btw, exactly what is that?)" about the president and the troops are two different things. The troops are there because the president ordered them to be there. Those who are doing their jobs and doing them well (and not the slim minority who are abusing their power) deserve our respect. They have mine. The president, on the other hand, does not. And, since I'm no longer in uniform, I have no obligation to him as a commander-in-chief.

My third point, this nation was founded on dissent. Our original colonists dissented from the Church of England. Then, our "founding fathers" dissented from the King of England.

So, to sum up. Not only am I going to "allow" people to "talk bad" about the president, I will encourage it. Encouraging freedom of speech and lawful dissent is my DUTY as an American.

The Democrats didn't bash the troops, they tried to put an end to this stupidity!
If you're all so worried about the troops, why don't you try and do something constructive for them.
Like....returning them to their 2001 pay level!!!! Which Mr. Bush took away from them!!! Then give them a raise and battle pay, instead of paying out millions to private security companies. Next, how about some decent medical care that includes mental health for them and their families!!!!!
Let them have their leaves, let them retire and give them the proper respect for the time they have served!!!!
Just because I speak out against the President, does not mean I don't support our troops!
As a matter of fact, I can't look them in the eye as a American with the knowledge that, they have had their pays cut, they have to wait for prosthetic limbs and medical care, they have no armor and tanks that fall apart.
I would personally like to know what happened to that solider who stood up to Rumsfeld and asked him "where" the armor was and when could he expect it. That man asked us all that question! Since we all asked him to put his life on the line! Yes, the President represents us all and as such, we were all asked, when would those boys get what they needed. I think I can speak for all of us when I say, I would have told that man, right away! But I can't personally send him what he needs, so I take it up with the man who represents me! As his "boss" he is doing a terrible job! He has not completed his work on time, he has not been efficient, and he is late with the goods. If I did that in my job, I would be fired pretty fast! So would you!
There is your challenge!

I'm not American but I can tell you that as long as there are objective, right minded people in the world and as long as your President continues to lie and deceive his countrymen he will continue to be dis-respected, criticised and even hated for his actions. I have every sympathy for your soldiers however, they are only doing their duty and as such do not deserve the anger and hostility being levelled at them. They operate in very dangerous circumstances and inevitably will make mistakes thus rendering themselves open to claims of injustice and brutality. They would not be in that situation if your President had not lied, manufactured intelligence of weapons capabalities and grossly exaggerated perceived threats to your nation in order to create a war situation.

I partly agree with you. Yes it is wrong to talk bad about your brave soldiers who entered into this war convinced that they were upholding justice and who are only trying to do their duty in attrocious and very dangerous citcumstances, but I think it is perfectly acceptable to talk bad about a man who will put his soldiers lives on the line in order to manufacture a war that could so easily have been avoided. It shows a lack of respect not only for the innocent lives destroyed by this conflict but also for his own people. Why should he be shown respect?

Who has talked bad about the soldiers? They aren't doing anything wrong, they are doing what they are told, fighting for us and I know I support them. But I don't support our bone-headed president who has let this war go on way too long.
All the things I love about this country, Bush had nothing to do with. He has only made me realize what I hate the most about it.

Every American enjoys the right of free speech, not just those that agree with the government. Furthermore, I do not feel that disagreeing with the president and/or his policies should be considered "talking bad about the president". Without dissent, do you think the country would be as eminent as it is today?

OK.....I have NEVER said anything about the troops....I support them because a lot of my friends are over there & I hope they get home soon & safely!!! Their families need them!!!
I LOVE this country & it's ideals!!! I am VERY patriotic!!! I will go so far as to go AGAINST the president, to protect this country & it's ideals when I see them being perverted by a maniac!!!
Patriotism is love of COUNTRY & IDEALS.....Not love of the president

I agree, some comments are overtly rude and condescending but as a Democrat I feel I have an obligation to question my country and its leaders. It is the responsibility of the people to protect the integrity of the Republic.

Our president acts like a stubborn idiot. I have a right to say what he's demonstrating. Do you think you're the only one who has a right to voice your opinion? I'm sure you've said plenty about Clinton.

I agree. Bush isn't perfect and neither is our foreign policy but we must respect those appointed and those that fight for our freedom. We should support our troops, we don't have to support our presidents decisions but we definately need to respect him. He is dealing with a difficult situation right now and our critique of him does not make America a safer or more peaceful nation.
