Ever hear the old phrase "The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree." We frequently repeat the things we learned as a child from our parents.
Your first step of growing beyond the shade of your parents tree is recognizing the possibility that the negative components in your family might repeat themselves.
So.....yes........ a bad relationship with either parent can affect future relationships.

The answer is NO! This is just a wise tale. A relationship has to do with you and the other person. That's it! If both of you choose to treat each other well and have respect for each other, you will probably do well unless it just isn't meant to be.
On the other hand, you should try to get along with your mother it's just the right thing to do. I have a quote for your relationship with your mother:
Time is a tool of the soul and mind, the way you use it can be a profit or loss because time waits on no one.
Don't loose to much of your life with a bad relationship, fix it.

I do not know if it would be a bad relationship but you may just not know how to communicate or relate. It depends on who you are and how you handle it. Someone may set the relationship as the same as their mothers or one may say that I will not let this relationship with my mom ruin the way that I keep my relationship with my GF.

I have always heard the fact that women should watch men for how they treat their mothers because that will be how they treat you someday. To me, it definitely is not a true statement because your parents may handle their parenting in some inappropriate ways sometimes and your behavior towards them may simply be biased. Whereas, in a romantic relationship (a true one I believe), men and women should be able to overlook these "ticks" and see the person that they fell in love with in the first place.

I think we learn relationships in many ways--one of them being from our relationship with our parents. We look to them for guidance, in some ways we consider them models for future relationships, often subconsciously. However, that doesn't mean that we are doomed to a particular future as the result of a past. If you're aware of the issue, then you can beat it.

depends if your talking about just not showing that you can care for them then yes. But if your just annoyed by them controlling you or what ever reason a teenager gets annoyed by their parents then i dont think it effects things.
