three years ago, i showed my love for a girl by writing her a poem. she hated me back then, things got ugly.
a few months ago we started talking again and we became friends really fast. for v-day, i got her a bunch of stuff and a card that showed her how i felt about her.
the next day, she told me she just wants to be friends. since that time, it's been a roller coaster of emotions. somedays we talk regularly like friends, somedays we flirt a lot at school and over the phone, and somedays we get into really emotional discussions where i say "if only we could be more..." and she says "we would be so good together as friends."

signs that give me hope: she can't stop talking to me, even after her friends said not to, she stays up at night to talk to me through phone or email, she keeps saying things that can be interpreted two ways (really obvious things), we tell each other everything, and last: she kept the giant teddy bear that i got her for v-day, even after her friends told her to throw it away.

I have to agree with the guys here. Sounds like you are in the friend zone. It's hard to break out of that. You should try not being so available... maybe date some other girls. If she comes running, you'll know how she feels. If she doesn't then move on...

Dude - you are totally a beta. This girl wants an alpha. You need to act like an alpha to get her. Maybe try withdrawing from her a little and have her come to you. Then you will be able to tell for sure if she likes you. It will be hard but you will find out whether she likes you and have a better chance of getting her.
