I was wondering actually for my husband, he's from Egypt and we had our interview last August and now it is almost April, I was wondering how much longer can it take. I am anxious to start traveling with him and not have to leave him back in the US. If anyone has any experience with greencards and immigration I would appreciate your feed back, thanks.

I was hoping people would be more specific, as to their personal experiences. I know that the "green card" itself is just a stamp or something I wasn't aware that it cost money. Could you please say the country to which you're from and how long it took after the interview.

For me the whole process took about five months from when we initially filed the papers. I had to go get my biometrics taken (fingerprints, retina scans). After they checked with the FBI that i wasnt a crook or a terrorist, i got a letter to go to the interview in a months time, took all my paperwork and documents and after they scrutinized everything , told me i would get my card in the mail in 2 weeks and they did send it in that time frame. And yes if you didnt know , the whole process costs money. You can check on USCIS .gov for the cost but the grand total was like $700 but from i heard the fees are going /went up to close to $1000. If your husband hasnt heard from them , he can go to the website and key in his receipt number and the computer can tell you how backlogged they are or he can call them and speak to a rep. Good luck.

You must use the government timetable, which means that it will take three to five times as long as they told you that it would take. Oh, and it will cost about twice as much as they told you it would cost. Good luck!
