Ohhhh, the memories. My mom used to make it. It's a yeast bread that is shaped by dipping chunks of the dough in butter, and then stacking the chunks into a pan (usually a tall cake pan like an angel-food or bundt cake pan). The result is a shaped bread, but the pieces are pull-apart, slightly larger than bite size pieces. The bread is very buttery and soft.

I make bread from scratch and part of the time I will make monkey bread just to have something sweet around. I don't use sugar just cinnamon and sometimes I will add some nutmeg to that just to give it a different taste. It is just something fun to eat and when my kids were little I let them do the rolling.

Monkey bread is sweet biscuit concoction that is baked and then everyone pulls it apart, like monkeys

Monkey Bread

3 cans Pillsbury biscuits
cinnamon
sugar
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350*F. Make a cinnamon and sugar mixture to taste. Open and cut each biscuit into 4's.
Roll biscuit pieces in cinnamon/sugar mixture until evenly coated. Place evenly around greased bundt pan.

In a sauce pan, melt butter, brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until smooth and creamy. Pour over biscuits.

Place in oven for approximately 30 minutes or until cake is slightly crunchy on top.

Remove from oven. Place a plate on top of bundt pan (upside down) and flip so that cake falls out onto plate.

Monkey bread is so good and easy to make. You take pillsbury dough out of the container, make the dough into balls, roll it in butter & cinnamon and put them into a bundt pan. You bake it and then pull it apart to eat it. It's sooo yummy!

It is the most amazing thing EVER!!!! It's bread that I believe is dipped in melted butter then topped with cinnamon and sugar. Then cut into pieces, put together in a pan and baked. IT'S REALLY GOOD!!!

What I call "Monkey bread" is sort of...well, it is making egg bread and instead of rolling it into a loaf you sort of ball it up and make a mountain of sorts with it and bake. Then you can pull it apart when it is warm. It is wonderful, but I don't know how else to describe it.

Just a sweet breakfast type pastry. Sugar and cinnamon and raisins as I recall. You pull it apart and eat it as a sticky finger food. Pretty tasty if you can ignore the fat and calories.

And much better than sweet breads and rocky mountain oysters. LOL

It is dough, such as Pillsbury canned rolls, broken up and put in the bottom of a bundt pan or whatever, with melted butter, sugar and cinnamon poured over. Bake and eat.
