the first thing I say to mine everyday day is ..How was your day ? questions like Do anything special ? How are you feeling ? What did you eat ? Just some small talk to see if he is tired or up for a talk ..and genuine interest ..then I watch the news and hot TV shows ..so we discuss both .. Is it always great to read some facts of interests..easy to find on line and bring up a conversation about something interesting ..last ask questions about him..if he ever heard of ..... Did he ever go ..... What things did he do as a child..just ask questions about his life and he should start telling you stories..

Some guys aren't much for talking, but if you get them talking about something they are interested in then it's not hard to start conversation.
However if you don't know what he's interested in, or you don't know much about the things that interest him.... well it just usually helps if you have common interests to begin with.

To really get to know him , try " The Book of Questions" . It's a good ice breaker and will also help you learn a LOT about him and you, too. There's also a " Book of Questions about Love and Sex "
