If your dress is going to be off-white, then having your BMs in ivory is going to be a little too close in color. In pictures next to you, they will look dingy since the colors are so close. You can always have them in one of your wedding colors - a different color for each BM is a little too much - and have them get an off white sash to wear.

Ivory dresses for the bridesmaids aren't that bad, and if things come down to it, you can always had a little color to it so that the bridesmaids dresses don't look exactly like your wedding dress. Since your dress is more traditional and thiers is straight you should be fine. There is nothing wrong with having similar colors.

It will blend too much with your dress, taking away the special look of your wedding dress.

However, the rainbow colors may overpower your dress, and draw more attention to them than to your dress.

Have you thought about very pale, pastel rainbow colors? You could have the bridesmaids dresses in the same style but different colors. For instance, if your colors were violet and ivory, you could do the bridesmaids in light lavendar, rose and pale pink, etc.

No matter what you do, make sure the bridesmaids dresses blend with your color theme without matching or overpowering the color and style of the bridal gown.

It may be difficult for you to stand out in your photos. What about going with ivory & another color. You could go all ivory & have a sash or bow with a different color. So many pretty bridesmaid dresses are two-toned. Just remember in the end it's your wedding, do what you want, but just think about the money you'll be spending on photos that you may not stand out in. Good luck!

Nothing detracts from the bride, her beauty and glow completely overtake any other woman no matter what she is wearing. My only hesitation with this is that because you will be in diamond white, which is a sharp color and the ivory is not so sharp, the girls dresses might look dingy against yours. I would suggest first taking a photo of both dresses next to each other just to see how they look in pictures.

Good luck!

It kind of would take the attention off of you. Even though people say "it's your wedding, do what makes you happy" there will be a whole lot of people in the audience thinking about the fact that your brides maids are wearing the same color dress as you. It WILL take the attention off of you, whether your dress is the most awesome or not. I would go with another color for sure.

I have seen bridesmaids in white/ivory and it does look good. You said that you were wearing a traditional dress which will be different in look to the bridesmaids. I can't imagine anything upstaging a bride as everyone will want to be with you. It's your day go with what feels right to you.

I think that Ivory bridesmaids dresses would be very pretty. You can always tone down the Ivory with colorful flowers. I think it would be beautiful. I don't think it would take the attention off you. Good Luck!

I have seen this done in a few weddings. It doesnt take away from you, because, well.....the day is about you. You are the bride. The bridesmaids could be in can-can outfits and no one would be paying them any attention anyways! They came to celebrate you and your marriage! If you like the ivory dresses, by all means, go for it......
now, if you wanted them in veils....I might have a different answer, lol

If you want to do ivory bridesmaids, just make sure that you like the color of the bridesmaids dresses next to your dress.

By the way, there used to be a tradition (slavic, I think) of dressing all the bridesmaids and groomsmen like the bride and groom. They did this to confuse any "evil spirits" that might wish to harm the bride and groom on their wedding day. Nowadays, this is called a black & white wedding, and it is very classy.
